Thanks for the compliment man!  Of course, feel free to borrow any design elements you want to from my junk.  Great work with the dremel by the way.  Most impressive.

Junk?! Your work is brilliant!

Oh and thanks for the compliment, too. I grew up living in a flat above a dentistry lab. I practically grew up with a dremel, bunsen burners and all this other cool stuff you can find in a laboratory  ;D

I'm a man that has the strange ability to make junk stick together and for some reason that impresses people...  I guess the universe is a big place with varied taste.  :)

^I hope so!

Job and other "normal life" stuff is keeping me from going on at the moment. Hopefully things will slow down towards christmas.
Positive side effect though: I'm losing weight  ;D

Really nice work man, can't wait to see the finished product! If you wanted to backlight the wall panels without running up a huge electricity bill, one option you could try is electroluminescent sheet (you know those watches where the whole face lights up from behind? That's the same stuff) It uses next to no power to run ( I think you can run it off a 9 volt battery) and is paper thin. It comes in different colours and can be cut to shape with a pair of scissors. Since seeing your build, I've been seriously considering doing the same thing myself. My plan is to make a pattern and vacuum form repeats from those in thin plastic, then use the EL sheeting to backlight it. That would give the same golden glow (gonna use a yellow-gold plastic for the panels), cut out the holes for the roundels, and backlight the whole thing using white EL sheet, so the roundels will be lit using the same sheet to avoid having to wire in bulbs as well. What do you think?

That stuff sounds amazing! Where do they sell it? I can think of lots of uses for it.

Radio Spares sell it and I think Maplins do too.  It's been around for more than 20 years (developed in a shed by an old friend's next door neighbour) and used to require a stepper to increase the voltage / current from a cell battery, so if you have one of the old watches that used this stuff, you could hear it hum.  Obviously it's been improved since.

When I last looked at the stuff, it was quite expensive, though it's probably come down in price.  Better still is to find the paint version; apply to a surface, run a low voltage across it and voila.  Not sure where to buy that though.

Karst:
I don't own a complete suit yet. But I do have a few designs of my own that I want to realize in the future  ;)

Aaron:
Thanks a lot! A lot of credit goes to you; your thread is what inspired me in the first place  :D

Anyway here's a small update:
I dremeled (is that a word?) off a few pieces on the console I wasn't happy with and started modifying the base.

The cardboard will be covered in Aves Apoxy of course.

I know it's not really important but it bothered me  >:(

Let me know what you think  ;D
