I'll probably do something of the sort. :)

Make sure that you make a video of using the 'console remote' to watch doctor who or some other clever thing.
We'd all love to see it! LOL

How's this beautiful project looking now? :)
In the cities in the streets there's a tension you can feel,
The breaking strain is fast approaching, guns and riots.
Politicians gamble and lie to save their skins,
And the press get fed the scapegoats,
Public Enema Number One.

Scarfwearer

Just the same, I'm afraid. Life's been getting in the way too much, but thanks for the bump!

Amazingly I actually managed to rub 2 minutes together today (well alright, a couple of hours (after I'd cleared the workshop floor)) and make a tiny amount of progress with my console.

I've flipped the top over so I can work on the undersides of the panels. I was hoping the masking tape would hold the doors shut, but it didn't work.  ::)

In spite of my best efforts, the thing is not perfectly hexagonal, so each piece has to be cut to size with an accuracy of about 1-2mm, otherwises the gaps are too obvious. It's harder than making a police box roof, but not that much harder.

The top edges have a 50 degree angle on them to fit behind the outer rim lip. The bottom edge has a double 45 degree edge to cover the top of the plinth nicely.

Each side edge is cut to 20 degrees so that they butt together.

Lots of cutting and recutting.

I've cut three of them so far. Hopefully I'll get the others done soon, so I can get on with the next bit.

These photos look like they were taken in the BBC prop workshop, mid 70's...

Despite your complaints on the accuracy of measurement... I'm sure your prop is likely far more accurate than the original :)

It must be the season - I got out to the workshop twice in the same week... and got the underside finished. Phew. Lots more to do though.

It's looking positively amazing, Crispin!

This was always a favourite console of mine!
