That's a good problem to have.  And a good problem to figure out before you start cutting and shimming.  We had a big storm and me and my neighbor didn't have power for 5 days.  When it was back on, she couldn't get her garage door to hook back onto the opener train.  I monkeyed with it for 5-10 minutes before I realized the disconnect cord had a failsafe where pulling it caused a block that kept the carriage from locking in.  You had to rotate the lever 90 degrees for it to work.  Saved her having someone come out to "fix" what ain't broken.

And then the Daleks recaptured the party and sent you off to be Robitised. 🥺
But your companions saved you and you blew up Devonshire.😉

On a serious note, it does feel good to have it fixed.
I'm glad you were able to help your neighbor and thank you. I was feeling silly, but I feel better about it now.
why doesn't the Guide mention them? - Oh, it's not very accurate.

Before I start the next steps of the build - had to start cleaning up my work area.
Pushed all the walls towards the perimeter.

Started cutting long strips of artist mounting board. 1678829742043~2.jpg about 2 1/2 " wide(50.8 mm). Also looking for other materials useful to adding to the illusion of roundel depth.

Stored in the attic sometime in the past. Soon to be used to give the impression that the walls are thicker.

Used the jigsaw to help smooth out the circles.

So as snow collects outside my shed - Im trying to weldbond card to wood. 1679243163814.jpg1679243154621.jpg

We will see how this sets in colder temperatures.

1679341456928.jpg1679341461544.jpg1679341465486.jpg okay I recommend this. This is actually working far better than I thought it would. I thought I might have to build a structural cage around the circles with wood behind the scenes. Once the weld bond sets it's a really strong bond. The curve of the ark adds to rigidity, the card is flexible enough to hide a wealth of mistakes.
This is going to look amazing.

Thanks for the tip on the glue.  And I'll admit I'm jealous that you're getting to go forward on this.  I want to do a console room so badly, but I have so many things that need to be done ahead of it that I'll likely never get around to it.  On top of that, I came up with a different idea for the space I was going to do a console room in. :(

Well, to be fair this build diary started in 2012.... And now it is 2023... Things took a while. I remember that first time I saw Crispin's build and I wanted one just like it. I had trouble deciding on a console room, had to tare down a garage, lots of stuff happened. I really wish my shed were a couple of meters taller.
....
I envy you your TARDIS Volpone.
One day you'll have the Time and Space for a console room. I will cheer you on on your build. What had you planned for your space that was going to be a Console room? I'm intrigued.

If I had all the money and all the time, I'd probably have a Science Fiction city of sets from several series franchises.

Here is an idea: why don't you make a TARDISy background for when you Zoom / FaceTime? For your office.

Excellent! Envy is the beginning of all true greatness ;)
In the cities in the streets there's a tension you can feel,
The breaking strain is fast approaching, guns and riots.
Politicians gamble and lie to save their skins,
And the press get fed the scapegoats,
Public Enema Number One.

Love what your doing, I'd love to have an area where you could build what you wanted, I'm thinking if I had all the space I needed would be a full on early hartnell console room, then the Tardis interior from pyramids of mars and somehow intertwined with the corridors from the Liberator from Blake's 7.

I look forward to seeing your Liberator Tardis.

All my best.

Inside for spackling.
1680091971375.jpg1680091975373.jpg1680091978704.jpg1680092539052.jpg1680093711059.jpg

So the weather has been snow one moment, then sun, then rain, then cold.

This has kept me inside away from the Axons.

My solution. Work inside.

I've been adding Wood Glue to the back of the roundels to help secure them - as I was moving the wall I think it may be a good idea to add batons between the card stock....
Quote from: Rassilons Rod on Feb 13, 2023, 09:38 pmAre you going to attach any battons, to reinforce the structural integrity?
1680110438574.jpg side note : without the hinged section I never would have been able to get this in the house.

I just realized I have 3 or 4 rolls or roofing felt in the shed, and how useful that would be to improve these walls with the felt. * This will make the walls look like the Master's TARDIS. [For a time....]
