Been a while since I posted any of my own threads here.... But I've been working on this one for quite a while now. After I built a new PC during lockdown, the quality made a quantum leap forward....  Any one with better eyes than I have, pointers are always welcome :)

Still a long way to go on this baby, but the console is now done, at least, barring a few screws here and there!

Here are a few images from before I got to this stage, you may spot a few missing components in these...

Those images are really nice. I like the last one with all that space beyond the console....I still think the old consoles and interiors are the best ones. Are the pictures from one of those digital interiors you can move about inside of? I cant wait to see the finished product!
(Ive had plans to do this console room in 1/48th scale since....With those pictures by Tony Farrell, I am at long last able to get this done.... Then I can get back to some bigger ones!)

Thanks 😊😊

It's not done in Unity or anything like that. But it's akways been a plan to do some flythrough videos, every time I've done one of these.

Have to see how that goes though. Currently each image takes between 20-30 minutes to render.

Thats not bad ( twenty or thirty minutes to render). The ones I do with the (very old) paintshop can take hours! Mind you, I have to build miniatures, take pictures of real people, real scenery etc for them, so all in all there can be days of work in just one picture! Although, sometimes I do knock together quick ones just for a bit of fun.
Do you have any plans to put figures in them? (Its part of that child-like urge to see oneself or ones friends travelling in the Tardis after all!)
'Fly- Through' That was the word....

Hmm... Putting people in. Maybe, if I can collaborate with someone. I'm not very good with people drawing... They end up looking like 'taters :D

20 or 30 minutes becomes an issue when you need 25 frames per second and you want several seconds worth :D

I mucked up with the 'quotes 'bit there. Bit of an amateur with machines.

Practice makes perfect, Rassilons Rod! A bit of practice drawing the old fashioned way is good for the brain. And the hand. I was thinking more along the lines of the sort of thing I do which is to clone the figure into the picture using a new layer. ( You can change the size to fit with a distort tool).
I have thought of animations too, and the only way I could think of to get the 'real' characters amongst the miniatures would be to make card cut outs. It would take hours and hours, but any kind of animation does.
One way to get the movement of said character/figure is to set your camera for bursts (keeping the shutter going with one press) if you light it correctly and use a plain background they would be easy enough to turn into 'transparencies' ( my Paintshop calls them PSP images) by erasing the backgrounds. Anyway, its food for thought.

Just finished (re)building the 2 variants of the artisan chairs that appear in the 60s console rooms. I may make the brass studs a bit shinier.

Console Room as it currently stands.
20220917-02 Unearthly Child WIP (2560x1440)(2k)(29m15s).jpg

To do list:
Tidy up the wood texture on the chairs
Finish the armilary sphere (not urgent, doesn't appear until The Daleks Episode 1)
Build Square Plinth and Clock
Build that odd looking Chinese dragon (need to find some decent references)
Add screws to the console panels

Currently finishing off the main doors.

Even as screen shots they look really good!

I'm surprised the Knossos Throne chair is that small, compared to everything else. Just goes to show perception and memory are unreliable.
