This isn't a big post, I just fancied making a little change to my console, something that could be swapped in and out so I came up with this little screen.

It consists of a layer of silver card, a layer of acetate with a grid printed on it and a layer of yellow acetate. I then installed the card inside the windowed lid of a tin. On the back is a cylinder to fit the hole left by the meter that was in that space.

This is such a neat little console.  It's really an inspiration that you can build a really cool and very enjoyable console even if you don't have a room big enough for a screen-accurate 8' diameter one.

Thank you.

The dream is a full sized one or one with a working rotor and electronics but I haven't the skill so it would have to be commissioned and I doubt I'll ever have the money for that.

One idea that is feasible is a TARDIS wall, something like the flat roundels seen in Planet of Evil.

I always wanted a console growing up and I'm very pleased with my little build. It's not perfect but there are times that I can't believe I built it - given my lack of tools and training.

I've added a fast return switch to my console. Thought about recreating the Hartnell one but 5 minutes of research changed my mind.

Apologize if you've shared it upthread, but where do you get your switches?  My car has a stupid button on the center console that's only purpose is to change the color of the mood lighting in the interior.  On my "when you get around to it" is putting some kind of hazard tape over the lame icon on the button and putting a little clear plastic flip-up cover over it to keep it from accidentally changing to pink or something when I bump it with my elbow.  I think I've got a good source, but multiple sources are always good.

I just search ebay or sometimes Amazon for what I have in mind.

I should say the switch is mounted on a thingy from my bits box so you won't find that with switches. It's a stand for a Konami model of... an Eagle Transport... maybe Fireball XL5... could have been S.I.D. from U.F.O.... not sure.

New component.

This bit has been a multidirectional lever and a sonic socket but I like this.

Maybe it's a directional control or a randomiser.

Would the silver bit look better in red?

Thanks @The Doctors Mum foe the idea.

Do you mean blue and red instead of blue and silver?  Hmm, without seeing the alternative, I imagine it might look a tad "muddled".  But I can't say for certain.  Personally, I think the silver striations help to blend with the metallic surfaces present.

I mean the silver ring around the sphere.

Oh, the ring!  Yeah, the silver makes a nice counterpoint to the mechanism on the left side of the lever.  Red would imply an emergency device of some sort, at least, I would perceive it as such.
