Your floor is wrong.

Just kidding.  Amazing.  I don't even know where to begin.  Literally.  Every time I start to type something I'm too blown away to know where to start.  But the floor *is* wrong. ;)

I don't know which I want more - the console or the walls lol.

You've just been added to my list. I have a list of people I would employ to build me a console room should I mysteriously come into a lot of money lol.

Hello Tripodstrilogy,

This is great.

All the best,
Sean.

Ha!
Yes, I felt that painting over my wooden floor was a bit of a step. I might do it in the future.

 ;D  ;D

I'd also be tempted to paint my floor white too, if I was in your position, but a white floor shows every mark & gets dirty very quickly...

PS: On a similar note- does your console get dusty very quickly & need constant cleaning?

Russell

I was just joking on the floor, of course.  And this is such a brilliant build that I have no place offering unsolicited advice BUUUT...

...since more than one person has talked about painting the floor, might I suggest "rolled" or sheet vinyl flooring?  It is mostly an economy kitchen or bathroom flooring option for low-priced rental properties but it would look OK in this format and you could pick it up if the console room isn't a permanent thing (or if you moved) and it would actually protect your wood floor.

I didn't look around too long for solid colors.  They're probably hard to find if anyone makes them, because it makes them harder to hide seams and/or repairs.  With a pattern, if you get a damaged spot, you can cut it out and glue in a patch without it looking terrible (this would be for a permanent installation, of course, not for using it like a rug the way I'm suggesting.

I was going to suggest a vinyl floor too.

I was considering making a large hexagonal, vinyl mat to go under mine using this sort of style as opposed to white -

It looks the part but wouldn't show the bits and fluff as much.
