Were the signs in the signboxes black or deep blue? It's a bit tricky to tell. I'm leaning towards deep blue, but I want to see if anyone else has any idea.

I'm inclined to say they're black.  If they're blue, they're such a dark blue they're practically black.  (IMO, the "navy blue" of Marine/Sailor uniforms is black.)

It's a box made especially for the stunt.

Different photos seem to have it look different in different light (and especially when the sign lights are on the contrast makes it impossible to tell), but they are looking VERY blue in this photo, which looks like it's under reasonably flat, white light.
