Not as much "safe" for me, as magical; like for a moment thinking Santa is real again.  You're still waking up, getting your coffee going, and look up to see The Doctor's TARDIS parked in your back yard.  For a moment it's like when you wake up to fresh snow.  Then you remember that it is *your* TARDIS and there's a different satisfaction, that you made a dream from childhood come true.

Oh... definitely magical. As well as all the Who associations,  for me (and surely all of us here) the TARDIS has become a powerful symbol of adventure and excitement, creativity and imagination. It has resonated deeply within me for all my fifty years, and to catch sight of her in the garden is a fine thing indeed.

I love that there are things like Asterix, Sherlock Holmes, Laurel & Hardy, Mike Oldfield and Yes, that have stayed with me throughout my days... But none compare to the Doctor and his TARDIS.

11 Years or so on, I still look out of my bedroom window and smile every morning as I look down the garden and see the TARDIS...

People *want* to believe in the TARDIS.  I've got a handful of anecdotes.  A friend ripped the handle off the phone panel because he wanted to see what was behind it (nothing, the handle was the only thing holding the phone panel together).  When my neighbor came over to help assemble it for the first time he asked me what it *did* and I told him "hold the stuff from my garage while I'm fixing the garage up" and he replied "that's all?" 

I know it's impossible, but there are few things that would give me more joy than to invite someone to see the inside and have it actually be bigger on the inside and able to travel through space and time.  That moment of #4, luring Harry inside for a season of adventures.  To do that even once would be worth a lot. 

Hey.  I just realized you've got the photo backdrop so you get to extend the illusion for at least a second or two more.  No one is going to mistake the inside of my little shed for a TARDIS even for a second. Unless...Hmmm...Hypnotism?

Somewhere Else the Tea is Getting Cold

Inspired by @TG my wife bought me an early birthday present today. Now my TARDIS is something I can use rather than just admire and maintain.

I did think about putting a seat in my TARDIS, but the problem with that is, if I'm sitting IN my TARDIS, I can't SEE my TARDIS...

So I set up some chairs in the yard where I can sit in the sun & stare lovingly at my creation, dreaming of adventures in Space & Time... ;D

lol. The thing to do is split the difference and keep your patio furniture in the TARDIS--either collapsible furniture or just pack the thing so you can barely open the door.  Then you get to do the "bigger on the inside" gag every time you set it up.  Ideally someone is around to notice it but really, it would amuse me enough to be almost worth the hassle.  You probably need an inflatable beach ball too, just due to the number of times the TARDIS was going to a beach and one got dragged out in the old show.
