How about full lanterns?
Took a look at their website but, well...

Ummm, I believe they don't have a website...it's one of those huge dusty piled high wherehouse places in the industrial end of Seattle.
What would the Doctor do?

Nice lens, Cath! Your pics got me to measure mine - the one that I've been carting around with me since 1983 while it waits for its box - and I was surprised that it appears to be about the same measurements. And while I might be good with that one, like Doctor Iz says, it's always good to have a spare so I may be contacting Specialty Hardware in the near future (or past if he had more in stock back then <joke, please laugh>).

It would be great if he had a catalogue of sorts so we could see what sorts of switches and levers, etc. he has available. It sounds like he's one of Gallifrey's satellite TARDIS repair shops!

Hi,

I've found a supplier for very similiar TARDIS lamps.
The website is www.massive.be
Click on products then outdoor lights. Download the file then go to pages 184 and 194
I am waiting for them to finish setting my account up to find out wholesale prices.

Plus, they deliver WORLDWIDE!

Enjoy :)

Cheers :)

That's the lamp style that was used on the promotional TARDISes. It's probably the closest you can get without spending tons of $$$ now that the TV Prop's lamp was discontinued.

I didn't see that they ship to the US anywhere. Just the United Kingdom and other places in Europe.

while browsing through Menard's here in the states, I found an outdoor lantern with a nice lens. Although it wore the Hunter brand it's manufactured by Kenroy. The cost for the glass is $10, pretty reasonable I think, I've included the information in the attached jpg.90953GS.jpg

Nice find.

Unfortunately Menard's online store doesn't appear to be stocking these and a quick Google search yielded only results for the whole lamp. The one source I saw that listed the replacement glass also indicated it was discontinued.

Of course, the whole lamp is kind of interesting - though at what appears to be the going "discount" rate of $144 (eg, Walmart.com) it's a bit pricey.

Visually this Kenroy Post Beacon strikes me as sort of a cross between the 2005 Tea Lamp and the 2010 Anchor Lamp (both as modified). Might look nice just painted and installed as-is.

This lamp from Menards is the one I am using in my TARDIS. Well the glass part.

I paid $64 for mine at Menards 2 years ago when i started my build. I almost considered using the lamp assembly as it really is a nice piece and would look great on the top but decided to build a more accurate lamp housing.

Wow, that's quite a price increase in only two years!

Amazon has them as well, but they are charging $180 and show the list price as $200. Most on-line sources seem to be at the $144 price point.

I think these are fine, in fact for many years I was going to use this type on my build as they are very common here in the UK, but then I was fortunate enough to be pointed in the direction of the one I now have by our good friend Karsten... and if I remember rightly, they're about the same size.

Actually, I think Kiwi Doc has one of these on his TARDIS build... or at the very least something very similar.

I bought on of those polycarbonate lenses from a security light store - they're actually a little small, only about 5" instead of 6" but it certainly does fine in a pinch. I now have an antique glass fresnel now but it's a tad small too... :'( One day... :)

Karst left contact info on my thread "Jon's Tardis Build" in Tardis Shells.
On page two he gives the email address and phone numbers of a place in Seattle WA in the US.
Very nice Fresnel lens. I have also found an out door beacon lamp and I list the URL for those interested.

Cheers,
Jon
