Not sure if anyone else is having trouble with this but I've found a few of the candle lanterns that seem so hard to find but make a perfect lamp for a Tardis.  They have 8 of them left in stock and since they no longer make it I'm not sure if they will get more.  The site is bestnest.com then in the search portion of the site type lantern and scroll down.  It's about $23 plus shipping.  Here's the link directly to the page (if it works):

Hope this helps someone out!

I thought about going new-school with the lamp, but I thought that model looked too short and too wide. Just spit-balling here... I assumed it to be taller from the latest Dr..

I'm opting for old-school for ours. I like the marine look of the Perco glass and Fresnel effects when the light shines through. Hopefully, I'll get to post the pics here soon.

Until next time, remember to, "Simply reverse the polarity of the neutron flow."

Okay, having an odd moment.  Was just reading a thread on OG where someone posted screencaps from a BBC christmas promotional ad and lo and behold - what is hanging in shot????

[noimg]http://xs110.xs.to/xs110/06480/ofc-11.jpg[/img]

Are they having a laugh or just have a lot of these things hanging around?!

(YEs, I know it's a smaller model, but still!)    :D

So having watched Runaway Bride now with great interest, was anyone else enjoying all the TARDISy shots?  There were some lovely detail of the doors and windows inside and out in frame along with the newly relocated console room set looking (to my eye) as if the coral supports had all been broken around the middle and then patched up in the new studio but not quite perfectly.  And weren't there a lot of garden lamps!?  Also nice to see the console letting a bit of steam out again (oh, and what happened to the early Eccleston theory of TARDIS flight being bumpy and dangerous?  Makes Doc 9 look a bit of a bad pilot nowadays...   Also a few nice shots of some console controls and the gallifreyan script on the some of them and did you notice that someo f the lights behind the glass of the roundalls were pulsating?  nice touch though it also be nice to have the lighting be a bit more consistent between DoPs. Not quite as pulsate-y as the disco lights at the end of "The Doctor dances" though!

Okay, probably no-one else here wanted to hear any of that but if I cna't talk enthusiastically about TARDIS things here then where else can I go to get it out of my head?   :D

Wondering if anyone can give details on the B&Q Tardis lamp everyone has spoken about, possibly a photo or website URL's?

Friends are going to be in the UK this year and I'd love them to pick up the right item if it looks good.

Thanks if anyone can help.

After the relative ease of finding a 2005 Parisian Lantern last year, I now find myself in the position of being unable to source one so easily. B&Q no longer stock them, GARDMAN -(the company who make the monstrous item) will not supply me with one via mail order and B&Q say they can't order me one from them as "computer says no" syndrome.
Gardman also tell me that the nearest stockist is about 100 miles from me and they are not a mail order company. I have also searched the internets with no success.
I refuse to pay £40 from Garden Oasis who do stock them..any ideas anybody.
...maybe I should just use a piece of grey drain pipe like TPE does

Sounds like teh lamp I used to have. The one you had before was teh one they used though the one you got now is a close second, though not one I have seen used in the series itself.

I live in the states and was wondering how I might be able to get one of these? It would be nice to have sitting around inspiring me to build. :)

I think I have finally found the NS lamps in a local store.   They look like this one:

newtardislamp2.jpg

It's size is approximately 8.25 inches wide by 13 inches tall.  I'm not fully certain they are the same model.  The piece between A and B is solid brass attached to the solid round piece B:

lamptry1.jpg.

For those of you with the NS lamps, did you have to cut this piece out of did it simply unscrew from the rest of the lamp?  I don't mind cutting it off but I wanted to see how close to the original lamp I was.  As always, any help would be greatly appreciated.

They were until recently available at www.theonlinegardener.com

As recently as 2 days ago, but it seems not anymore unless they just took them down...

As for modifying it, I have read somewhere, that j-weld is the best thing to use to clue your parts back together, though i can't for the life of me remember where I saw that now.

What do you think of this Guys?

Lantern.jpg

I have been looking everywhere for a round "Fresnel Lens".  Found a company in Canda that sells the ones on private light aircrafts. :_|

Being in the UK - I don't want to see the price on them.

I have also been reading of the warnings about the Sunlight etc.

There was one on this forum with a link (In Seattle - NOT Sleepless in) but the company must have ceased trading.

Anyhow - Was thinking of getting one of these and removing the "Airvent" and inserting a Lamp (bulb).

What do you guys think - do you know of anything better?
