It's going to be etched in light catching orange acrylic. He is a set of pics showing the evolution of the design; working backwards from the final design.

Looking sharp, i've always préfères the "normal key yale" design for the tardis key for who normal it looks and how it contrast. But i have to say i would love this to be a canon version of how à tardis key looks when the caméléon filter is of

Angelus Lupus

Certainly a very sci-fi looking key, and an interesting blend of Who and Trek!
As for using this, compared to a Yale key?... Maybe it's for a newer Tardis model than the Doctor's Type 40?  It could also easily have appeared as one of the many keys the Gallifrey security tried that time they wanted to get into...  think it was Tom's Tardis?
My favourite non-Yale design (apart from this) would be the short-lived McCoy one seen in Ghostlight. I did once draw up what a Yale key would look like with one of those rubber-thingies you put over the round bit, but with a Seal of Rassilon design on it. (If only I knew what to call them, I might be able to look for somewhere to make one)
A mixed-up non-conformist, trying to fit in.

Well my TARDIS is significantly older than the Doctor's although over the centuries it's had a lot of upgrades and modifications including to the security of the Real World Interface.

The similarity to the isolinear chips of Star Trek wasn't intentional but became obvious as the design developed.

I like it when the TARDIS key is something a bit special and unusual. I don't see the key as being subject the chameleon circuit's whims, only the location and possible disguise of the lock - as with the 8th Doctor's TARDIS where there was a fake yale plate in front of the true lock. Otherwise the cypher indent keys kept by the Chancery Guard could be fooled just by changing the shape of the ship. That's just my view though, I'm sure there are lots of arguments against it.

This key is the same design as the previously posted key but this time it has brass/black plastic either side of the clear orange. It's a beautiful effect.

Oooh.  For a version 2.0 you need a hollowed out bit under the Gallifreyan symbol for a mini-LED flashlight.  Then make the "brass" sides thin enough that you can squeeze the switch so the plastic lights up.

So this will probably be the final variation of this prop... I say probably because whenever I think a project is finished I end up making a dozen changes to it.

The only difference in this version is that the orange layer is not cut into so there is no chanel cut through the key as before. The light plays on the orange in a totally different way and is far more visible which I've tried to capture in the pics.

That looks better, & would work as a key too, similar to a car key with the cuts down the sides.

I realize the TARDIS generally doesn't have an ignition key like an automobile, but that last key would be cool if you had to insert it into the console to operate the TARDIS.  Because you could put a light source under the keyhole and then the Gallifreyan character would light up spectacularly.
