It looks like it could be possible they repaired the cap. Or is that wishful thinking? This picture makes my heart smile.
why doesn't the Guide mention them? - Oh, it's not very accurate.
Oh? - I'm researching the new edition.

Time has not been kind to the Buchanan Street box  :( . It is in a very sorry state, by far the one in worst shape out of the 7 Glasgow boxes. Missing all its signage, very dirty, graffitied, and the windows are crying out for attention. The two front windows have been boarded over - one of them painted to look like a window. If that is the standard of repairs for this box, I see a very grim and sad future for the Buchanan Street box  :'(

"The windows are wrong!"

No but seriously, this is just very wrong and I have written to Glasgow City Council about it. I don't even know if they own the box but I'd assume that they own it or if not, they know who does. I have very little faith that they'll take any action but I feel compelled to try.

Oh my giddy aunt!!

Aaaah the poor old thing. Very sad. A sign of the times I feel. Mind you, as you might recall from some of my past posts on this I have a penchant for derelict boxes. ( Indeed all derelict street furniture) They do make for interesting models or art.
I forget off hand the name of the gentleman who was doing the restoration work on them some years ago. Let us all hope that he is still involved and one day we might see the box restored to its former glory.
