I like those costumes! Clock hands on the front, and what looks like a cape with roundels on.
Makes me think they'd be great for a story where the Doctor returns years later to somewhere, and finds they've built a society/religion around the Tardis.
A mixed-up non-conformist, trying to fit in.

Alice in Chains approves this message.... What do you mean, I got it wrong? ;)
In the cities in the streets there's a tension you can feel,
The breaking strain is fast approaching, guns and riots.
Politicians gamble and lie to save their skins,
And the press get fed the scapegoats,
Public Enema Number One.

Another big question (and forgive me if this has already been addressed and I just missed it).  Will you upload a video of the performance (or at least the highlights) for any and all to enjoy?

Sincerely,

Bill

BTW, who has NOT heard of "Top Gun" and its signature song "Danger Zone"?!  Even if one has not seen the movie (in full or even in part), it is such a solid part of pop culture that anyone living in the US anytime during the last 30 plus years with access to a bloody radio would have heard the tune!

Hey Bill,
I absolutely will.  It's still early in the season so the show isn't very clean yet.  The final performance is on March 30.  I'll post that video soon after.  I'm also going to try to get a good multi-camera, multi-angle run.

As for the Danger Zone... right!?!?  It was pretty shocking.  You don't even want to know what happened with a different group and their Star Wars themed show.

Action pic from this weekend.  They've placed first or second in all three competitions so far this year.  We record the full show this Thursday for a nationwide virtual competition so I'll be able to post a link here soon.  51014792597_b13e8363e5_c.jpg

That's frickin' amazing at every level.  And this is coming from a man who once used the A-Team van to pull a trailer containing a TARDIS.
"My dear Litefoot, I've got a lantern and a pair of waders, and possibly the most fearsome piece of hand artillery in all England. What could possibly go wrong?"
-The Doctor.

Volpone

I would cast that kid as The Doctor in a second, the TARDIS turned out amazing, and the other costumes are better than a lot of the ones in the classic series.

I agree with all those points!  Your doctor has a "Mysterious Beasts..." vibe about him (the lead character whom I thought looked quintessentially "Doctor-ish"); the TARDIS is just freakin' "imposing" and the band members really do look like characters from a classic era serial (with a bit of flair of Nu-Who).

I eagerly await the video!

Bill

A-Team van pulling a Tardis would be quite the sight.  With the ramp on our semi-trailer, I could probably do a Knight Rider deploy while driving down the road.

Thanks guys.  It's been a fun season so far.  Last year the season was cancelled halfway through it and the fall marching band season was abbreviated at best.  It's been nice getting back to something of a normal season.  I look forward to sharing the video here.

brojack17

First video is here.  Let me tell you about the season.

We had a total of five competitions.  The kids placed first or second in each of the first three.  The fourth show was our state championship.  Normally, this would have taken place in Kentucky and would have been the overall championship for Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, and Mississippi, but with COVID, we had to have multiple state championships.  The kids jumped six points in their score and took state.  They were then invited to perform at the Tennessee championship the next weekend (this is the video from that run).  The judges gave feedback and a score but it wasn't posted since they were exhibition.

They have their final live performance this Tuesday at their annual fundraiser and they are still competing in a virtual nationwide competition.  Our video from Tuesday will be submitted for the final virtual competition.

I'm going to work on the multi-camera cut recording Tuesday but I wanted to share the video from this last week.  I'll also put a link to a go-pro the kids put inside the Tardis during one of the practice runs.  The kid who played the doctor really had to work hard throughout the show.

Thanks to this forum for being here.  I had the design pretty well in place but it was nice seeing other designs and downloading the signage was a real help.  The fall marching band show is time themed too and the director talked about using the prop there.  It'll be a little dystopian themed though and she wants to paint the Tardis in greyscale.  I'll keep you posted if that happens.

Wow!  I certainly did not expect to see your TARDIS gliding around like a Dalek!

"Dancing" police boxes...who'da thunk it?!

I admit I giggled when I heard the "Jetsons" traffic sounds to convey the "future".  ;-)

Sincerely,

Bill

I'll make sure and let the director know that was caught.  He got a kick out of it.  The kid inside really had to work hard to move that thing.  He's wiry and not bulky.  Luckily it was on a gym floor and not on a football field.
