I speak to you from the final days of Gallifrey. I am the past you have forgotten. You are the future I will not live to see...

Magnifique!!!!
why doesn't the Guide mention them? - Oh, it's not very accurate.
Oh? - I'm researching the new edition.

Cardinal Hordriss

Thanks.

Not bad on my budget and with my skill level.

My boss cut the top and bottom using a template I drew up and he also cut the fluorescent yellow/green bits. The tubes were the right length on arrival and I took the side bits from an old rotor and frosted them with sand paper.

I like the Baker rotor. I always think it looks like fuel rods dipping in and out of the console.

"Not bad"‽ (thanks for the excuse to use an interrobang) More like 'bloo flipping brilliant!"

Thank you very much.

I've got to say I was skeptical but that turned out very nice.

Cardinal Hordriss

Thank you but I have to know - what made you skeptical?

Oh, it's just a very chintzy looking time rotor.  It was THE time rotor for me, given my age and background, as was the Newbery TARDIS, but like the TARDIS that housed it, that time rotor just wasn't that impressive.  The Hartnell one was an intricate clockwork column and of course the 5 Doctors one was very impressive.  Even the Pertwee version is growing on me these days, but that wobbly triad of fluorescent tubes, jerking up and down just hasn't stood the test of time. (I apologize if this is heresy to someone who loved that time rotor but that's the way I feel about it.  Still love the stories it was in, but not a fan of that prop.)

On the other hand, your interpretation of it is instantly recognizable but it is much cleaner and more elegant.  It actually looks like a key part of a powerful time machine.

Oh I see.

I thought you were skeptical of my ability to make it lol.

Nope.  I thought you were wasting your ability on a sow's ear, but it turned out to be a nice silk purse. ;)

So I was looking at an empty bottle of lemon juice...

The click switch for the bottom of the tube, the finished control and fitted to the panel. The red dome on the opposite side is new too.

Just had a proper look at the panel and those black lines desperately need redoing... it never ends. I might be brave and paint them on instead of using tape. Those square buttons  need straightening out too.

I'm so proud of myself for not saying anything about the buttons.  Although if I had, I'd have pointed out how sorry the switches for the lights on my A-Team van are.  Glass houses and all...

That said, the lemon juice door control is brilliant.

Well the black lines are done but it ended up being more of a pain in the backside than expected so the buttons can wait lol.

To do the buttons I've got to take out the rotor, reach in and take the mechanisms off the buttons so they can be removed, remove them, do the holes, test how the buttons fit, possibly work on the holes some more, put them back in, reattach the mechanisms and spend fifteen minutes making sure the rotor is perfectly aligned when I put it back... they can wait lol.
