It's funny, I'm one of the biggest proponents of "the blue doesn't matter, the light will change and it will look totally different in a minute" argument but this is one that I'll have to come back to as proof.  I'd have never believed that blue was dark enough for the Hudolin TARDIS, but with lighting appropriate to the way it was shot it is dead-on.  You almost expect Paul McGann and/or Sylvester McCoy to be stepping out of it.  Very nice.
"My dear Litefoot, I've got a lantern and a pair of waders, and possibly the most fearsome piece of hand artillery in all England. What could possibly go wrong?"

i'm very happy to hear those words, it fills me with joy. i'm actualy pretty happy to see that the color is enjoeyed. tbh, the dark purple is quite iconic, i went for "acuracy" (techinicaly i don't know the exact hue, but here is my guess) but i have to say, if i were to remake it for an eye pleasing desplay piece, i would have go for the dark purple. irl, the blue feels a bit wierd compared to the other boxes. i'm not a sucker for saturated color and this box is quite a saturated blue irl. my goal was for the box to look screen acurate, and for a first shot in the dark, i'm happy. and i'm even more happy to see some peaps enjoye it.

Some more news, i've ask for a reprit of the graphics, now they are the right color(but for some reasons thé size is of. I might get them reprint again, but for now i'm done with that. The sign boxes looks good enought.
I treated my self by mounting à shelf on top of my work desk. It was laying around for a while and it is now use full. Some day i'll make à craft work station at some point too.
Sooo... Yeah new update. Talking about color, in my project pipeline will be the new séries 5 tardis on wich i'm trying to find out it's color. I thought it was a blue woodstain, tho appartly it's subaru blue that was sprayed on it. I've known for a while that the lamp was sprayed with that refrence of paint, but i've some doubte the wood it self was. Still digin' that i guess. I'll have time to think about it, before starting that, i'll have to do a studio scale miniature appartement. Wish will take quite some time. Maybe i'll post à bit about it

Those close up shots look really good.
The detail, the colour, the texturing.
Everything is spot on.

Thx Russell ^^
I still have the lamp left to do tho. I'm  still looking for stuff i could recyclé.
I'm kinda developping a lining for tardis in the dark appréciation. Promos to the the props désigners, so far, in the dark, i can still tell wich is wich. Just by the window shape, righting font and light température.

I went out 5mn yestuday to shoot à bit some fait dusk pictures. I can't do night shoot outside (normaly but i might anyway) because of the 18h nationale carefue.
It's kinda unusale seing this box out in the day light, it looks od but hey...i can't do better yet. I still need to turn some acrylique tube and make my self a proper lantern if i want to call it done.

Any way, enjoy^^IMG_20210126_200816_440.jpgIMG_20210126_200817_930.jpgIMG_20210126_200820_981.jpgIMG_20210126_200822_683.jpg

I'm still very confiant in my color choice

Those look amazing, the first picture is almost identical to one of the promotional images! The lighting, the blue, the angle... it really does look like the full-sized box! Based on this, I look forward to seeing how you upgrade the lamp.  :)

Okay, you honestly "got me" with this latest collection of photos.  "Glancing" at the "recent posts" thread and not yet reading the text, I saw these images and just assumed they were of a life sized prop!  Seriously!  Only when I opened this thread properly and actually read the posts did I realize my assumptions were mistaken.

The 4th, 5th and 6th shots truly astound me!  That last with the low camera position aimed high and the door opened flooding the wet, reflective ground...the musical "cue" of "Flavia's Lament" immediately "plays" within my head!

Sincerely,

Bill

russellsuthern

Agreed.
Your pictures look great.
You are as talented a photographer as you are model builder.

Thx à lot guys^^ i'm quite touched by such Nice comments, btw i've checked around, and good job on your full size tardive. I really want to make one to film stuff (and some funny projet) but my roommate barelly alow me to do all those model without having me promise to get ride of them at some point X) do full size won't happen until à few years i think. But i still want one. I always wanted à New series 1 or Nsdw 4 tardis. But now... I'm not so sure wich one i shall make. A part of me kinda want to make a design of my own.
What do you think ?

russellsuthern

You deserve the accolades-
Your models are superb.
The Hudolin is one of the best iv'e seen!

You are right that there are some amazing full sized builds on site.
The beauty of TB is that no one judges. If you want to go accurate to one model, that's great. If you want to mix it up with a hybrid, that's cool too.
Some people go completely "off piste" creating steampunk TARDISes, art deco TARDISes & goodness knows what else!

I personally used the Hudolin plans with a few modifications, but then got bored with the all blue look & repainted her metbox/Capaldi colours- dark glossy blue with white windows.
It's your build, so you can do what you want!

Best regards,

Russell
