It was drawn by Steve Parkhouse who later wrote quite a lot of Dr Who Weekly and Monthly strips.   But this strip doesnt do anything for me!

You're right, the humor itself is rather labored and "bottom barrel", but it does provide a "window" onto a mid 70s perspective.

I'm dropping most of what I I originally composed as it grew "long winded'.  I'll just note that before I actually expanded the view to clearly read the strip, I wondered, "Wait; I thought the issue was dated 1975.  What is Peri doing in this parody?"  then I realized that was Rowley's take on Sarah Jane Smith getting stripped down by WALDO units!  Uh...  Somehow it just seems so wrong to "lewd" Liz.

And Peter Cushing becoming Dracula?!  The previous dialogue suggests Rowley has a much higher opinion of Cushing compared to Hartnell, Troughton or Pertwee.  But he thinks so highly of him, how'd Rowley get his Hammer Film roles so confused?!

I also get the impression Rowley considered Tom and his wardrobe a "cheap gimmick" as the closing narration box suggests the BBC is considering Tom's "replacement".  Heh, heh...  Little did Rowley know Tom would stay another 6 series!

Okay, okay, I do like the gag of a 'self knitting" and thus "ever growing" scarf.  It's like something Douglas Adams might have created from "Hitchhiker's Guide".
