Agreed. The last change I want to make is to the... visor? Eye plate? The red bit of his head. The existing one is wildly different to each of the K9 incarnations on screen and I can do it in a way that can be easily undone if I get it wrong.

Your gun & ears look great now!

As for the visor, a lot depends on whether you want it to light up or not.

I tried the light up option first & it proved too tricky, so I just used hardboard strips that I glossed red & glued over a red acetate rectangle for his face.

Hope that helps.

It does help and thank you.

That's similar to what I plan to do for the visor but, at least for now, I have no plans to make it light up.

The question is do I make the visor in the style of...

Rusty K9 MKIII - which is actually more like the MKI configuration but with bright read slats.

K9 MKIII - As it ought to have been in Shool Reunion and matching the look from K9 and Company which was later the MKIV style.

Or K9 MKI/II?

It's amazing on these builds, how something that seems so minor can make such a big difference.  Just the little bend you gave to the ears really makes them pop.  You don't realize it is missing until you see the change.  Turned out nice.

Very true. My housemate kept reassuring me they were fine but I knew something wasn't right. I'm much more settled now.

Lol.  When I built my TARDIS, it was intentionally "good enough" while trying to keep costs low.  And I was very happy with it.  For a time.  But between spending time here and the time I tried using a picture of my TARDIS for my "wallpaper" screen and wound up using someone's TYJ because I just wasn't happy with the picture, I eventually wound up doing an extensive refit to make my TARDIS more screen accurate.  Turned out very well.

And when I first completed it, I was bragging about it to someone and showing them the "before" and "after" pictures and they were like "I don't see what's different."  Which is kind of funny because I remember watching the Tom Baker episodes on PBS back before VCRs (and the Internet, obviously) and never noticing the change from the altered Brachaki to the Newbery.  And when "The Leisure Hive" came out, thinking something seemed different about the TARDIS.  Were the POLICE BOX signs *always* blue? :/

I still want Scarfwearer to do a fan film of his reconfigurable TARDIS, where every time The Doctor materializes he's annoyed because the TARDIS has changed--and he's even more annoyed because every time he materializes his Companion doesn't see anything different.

That looks great!
What did you use for the strips?

Thick card/sturdy card and red electrical tape. I would have liked to have used plastic but even if I had something to cut it I don't have anything to smooth and polish the cut edges. The final look isn't far off how plastic might look to my eye. Behind it is the original transparent red acrylic.
