I think the comedy in both films was a bit painful, but especially in the second; it really doesn't sit well with the generally more sombre tone.

I'd heard about the plans to explain the films in the 50th anniversary special. I'm glad they didn't. Some of the attempts to reconcile continuity issues are beyond painful. I remember reading Jean-Marc Lofficier's "The Nth Doctor" years ago. It's a history of the Development Hell of the unmade 80s/90s movie and the eventual TV movie.

What's utterly mindblowing is the effort he's gone to to reconcile each draft of each plot to the classic series. Utterly pointless as some of these scripts were intended as reboots... and in any event, none of them were ever made. But even more dumfounding were his attempts to reconcile all these alternative projects to one another!

Fortunately no one's ever felt the need to explain the Morbius Doctors in a primetime TV episode...

There surely can't be more convoluted continuity than John Peel's undestroying of Skaro in the War of the Daleks novel.

One wonders if we were to talk to Mr Peel about the day he came up with the idea, could we call the interview "Remembrance of the Day of the Genesis of the Masterplan of the Revelation of the Resurrection of the Dead Planet of the Daleks"?

I think we should be told.

The Two Francises
1st Anniversary Multi-Francis Special*

Rather usefully coinciding with my wedding anniversary, it's a year today since my TARDIS materialised in the garden.

A careful inspection reveals that she's coped pretty well with her first year outdoors. The sealant and coating appear in great condition. And no sign of any mold. I'm constantly astonished at how dirty the rain makes her. What's in that stuff? Apart from the couple of jobs I've detailed in this diary, there was a bit of blistering on the doorstep after the snow (which I dealt with at the time).

I also recently removed the insulation strips at the bottom of the doors.
The doors had expanded a little and the strips were getting in the way. Perhaps also due to expansion, the sign boxes haven't leaked all winter. So it could be that as the warmer weather comes there might be a few issues revealed.

There is still always a puddle behind the right hand door when it rains, possibly due to the paving slabs being not entirely level. And the inside of the phone panel might need some attention. But all told, I'm pretty pleased.

At the wise old of 30 I thought the chance of an heir had passed me by. Now a youthful 50 I have two sons and a daughter, all under 5. What is this sleep of which you speak?

I remember sleep, it's been a while.

Kudos to you for being so diligent in your inspections and maintenance.  I have this cycle:  The TARDIS falls into disrepair.  I launch a valiant (or haphazard, depends on my mood, time, and financial situation) repair effort.  Then I do diligent, regular inspections that validate my repairs.  Gradually the inspections start to slip and I'll decide to have a look on a rainy day and I'll find water intrusion.  Then I'll try to figure out where it is getting in, give up, and just let it go until the TARDIS falls into disrepair.  All this has happened before... 

Inspired by @TG my wife bought me an early birthday present today. Now my TARDIS is something I can use rather than just admire and maintain.

There's some rust on one of the hinges of my phone panel. Can anyone advise on how to remove it and to prevent its return?

Tbh I think John's undestroying Skaro, done before the Time War, made perfect sense. It showed even the Doctor can make mistakes.

War of the Daleks was my first novel at 13 so I will defend to the end of time and end of time part two 😅
