My son has turned into quite the hardcore Doctor Who fan, no idea how that happened, and I thought he'd like his bedroom transformed into a TARDIS-esque interior.

So after plugging in some shelves, I started working on his wardrobe - turning it into some interior styled doors.

(pre-apologies to anyone thats on Facebook and you've already seen me touting this gunf)



Hardboard painted and roundels routed, Hartnell style. I did consider putting some mini 70s roundels in there but... decided I don't have that patience right now.

Next was, how is he going to open them? Why not make the door interior handles seen during the 80s?

So thats what I did. Designed in Fusion 360 and printed on a 3d printer, because I don't have confidence in my wood or metal work abilities to make them by hand.







And finally... all painted and up!

How sturdy are those handles?

The Odeon in Brighton has a few real ones knocking around ... I've often considered visting with my screwdriver. 😁

They are reasonably sturdy if you ask me. They could do with a bit more depth but with little reference from the originals to go on, I'd taken a lot of liberties in terms of full size dimensions. These are scaled down to the boy's hand dimension and look ok - even if they are screwed on off centre, d'oh.
