Hello everyone, I have been a member for 10 years and have enjoyed seeing everyone's building and enthusiasm.
It was seeing Scarfwearer's Tom Baker console and console room build back then in 2010 that I knew I must try and make one too and started collecting parts for the controls and researching everything carefully. However, I did not have a clue what the dimensions were, or how to build it all. Starting with the console, I wanted to get it right, and as near screen accurate as I could,
It was when a few members on here started to build accurate consoles after Tony Farrell put together the amazing plans for the Sharp console that I decided that NOW was the time.

I was going to build the Season 18 Tom Baker Tardis console!

I actually started building five months after Karsten started building his in 2017.

Thanks to his amazing build - following Tony's plans, I was able to start mine. Karsten was so thoughtful in showing every step of his build. I also followed 'Other Dave' and looked carefully how he built his.
So I am dedicating this build to the members who particularly inspired me and provided the information I needed: Scarfwearer, Tony Farrell (and all those who helped him produce the plans for the Sharp console), Karsten, and Other Dave - thank you.

I was not sure if the build would go well, and did feel confident to start this console build dairy way back then, but I am near to completing everything and so now seems the right time - particularly as I am very happy with how it all went.

I started in August 2017 with the plinth.

Getting off to a great start...

I think the first ever console componenet that intrigued me was the green door opener that Adric pushed his finger into, in Logoopolis. Certainly it's one that stuck with me forever.

I'm going to enjoy watching this build come together

I'm so excited about this one!
Can't wait to see another Baker console materialize!

Dude I am having a major flashback here LOL...I had to look again because the shots look like mine in front of my garage.  I am looking forward to seeing this materialize.    I have tons and tons of pictures that I didn't post so if you ever have any questions let me know, always willing to share info and help out.   This looks great.

I have been trying to get a hold of the set needed to build the little green door opener from plastruct for my self, but they just will not respond to email or return phone calls, that has been a bit frustrating to say the least.  Regardless this build looks great as I said before, looking forward to seeing more of the pictures as you post them.

Have you not thought about designing one for a 3D print?

one could do that yes, I don't own one so it would be more costly, but yes it could be done.  then they could be cast in a green tinted green resin.  It hasn't been a huge priority for me so I haven't really done any follow through with it but that is a very good option yes.

Me too - I had a very strange sense of deja vu. But then I looked at the garage and thought that it's even more cluttered than your's is/was Karst!

I shall look forward to seeing progress on tripodstrilogy's build.

In addition to Karst's offer of help, I'm sure Scarfwearer will be willing to 'chip in' and Steve/Fivefingeredstyre is a wizard with electrical solutions!

Don't forget Mark Barton Hill/Timerotor - his Tom Baker version of the Sharp Console was displayed at The Doctor Who Experience and is fitted with a few of the surviving controls from the Baker era!

Lastly, if you need help with the components carried over from the Pertwee (and indeed Hartnell) versions to the Tom Baker console, them I'm your man!

Let me give that some thought for you...

Thank you Karsten for your kind words. If I can get half as good as yours then I'll be happy. I have never made anything like this before. All the power tools I used were brand new and it took a while to get familiar with them. Some cutting would be much better if I was to start again - but it's a matter of time available and cost. Wood is so expensive!

No man, post whatever you like, no restrictions on my account, it was just a bit of Deja Vu seeing the garage scenario and the plinth with trim up on saw horses, in fact I have those exact saw horses <lol>.
