Am I correct in thinking that the Newbery box had quarter round quadrent/beading in all three positions on each corner post?

Looking at the photos it seems pretty clear that they were on each corner, but were they on the inner edge (where the post meets the side) as earlier?

Yes. It's very difficult to tell, because the quarter quadrants don't have the 'step' between them and the post itself, but the shadow gives it away on some shots.

It's not quite correct to say that the Newbery Box quadrants weren't set back from the flat faces of each corner-post, they were but just not by very much. The attached might help.

I think that replicating that in 1/6 scale would probably be a pencil line rather than a step of some kind.

Do either of you know the dimensions of the lamp/housing and the platform thing it is standing on? Based on the above, that platform would be 230 mm wide and I've got a feeling it was 5 inches high....but I could be wrong.

Also, I notice in the photos that there is a small strip/step at the bottom of the doors. Was this on all four sides do you know?
