Further and likely final regeneration. This has more in common with the original iteration which feels appropriate given the event which lead me to build it. I wish I could photograph it better, it looks much better in person.

I speak to you from the final days of Gallifrey. I am the past you have forgotten. You are the future I will not live to see...

No, not the mind probe!

Attempt at a pic in different lighting but mainly trying to reduce how big the emitter looks in the other pics.

I mentioned before that this sonic was born out of a need for distraction, I suffer from mental health problems and that is a coping strategy of mine.

I'm ready to talk about what happened now - a good friend of mine committed suicide. No one was aware he was struggling and it was an appalling shock. I was very sad and also, and this is not to my credit, I was furious with my dead friend. We often talked about our mental health and I was angry he didn't feel he could reach out to me. I fell back on building a sonic.

The sonic has changed so much because whenever those feelings resurfaced I went back to it as a coping mechanism.

I'm more settled about what happened now and so it seems appropriate to name it for him - the Dingram Sonic.

Sorry for the loss of your good friend!  :(
It's never good when this happens, so we hope you have someone that you can talk to when ever you need to.
All the best.

BTW, that is a fantastic sonic you have made there. I wish I had a lathe to turn out items like this.
Chris.

Thanks.

I don't have a lathe. all found/gifted parts.

I've added a red stripe to match those on my TARDIS console to bring a bit of unity between the two and I think it looks alright. I've also added a setting nob on the bottom. Just needs a touch of paint to finish the black stripe near the bottom.

This project began several years ago and was my way of dealing with the sudden loss of a very good friend. Since that tragic event the sonic has been through a lot of changes but I'm very pleased with the result and I hope that you will be too. As the anniversary of David's death came around again i needed something to do and strangely, without connecting the two, i started modifying this sonic again. It doesn't have any lights but does have sound effects and an extending/retractable neck.

I couldn't have made this prop without help from my friend Ian at Custom Sonics who likes my design so much that he intends to add something similar to their catalogue. If you are interested in custom sonic screwdrivers then please check out their Facebook page - www.facebook.com/customsonics/
