Thanks very much to @russellsuthern @KIT-KAT @lantern of gallifrey and (though he hasn't been back for awhile) @lofiscifi for the urge to get going again, I am here to start a brand new build for that "tin dog"

So it begins...

Mate, that looks amazing!
Love the metallic finish.
What material did you use to make the head?
Looks to good to be hardboard- is it fibreglass?

Can't wait to see more!

This is a fibreglass head someone put together for me.
It's untouched since I got it 4 years ago.

All you're seeing is the light shine on its black surface

I thought it was fibreglass!

What era K-9 are you thinking of going for?

Russ

I'm actually considering making him a bit of everything K9. Swappable eye plates and maybe ears (as the hero prop nowadays doesn't have any rings in the ears), guess it depends what patience I have!

I do like the idea of giving it the School Reunion prop innards though, to cover the actual innards - which'll probably just be air, because I'm no robotics expert or anything.

Going to see how you go Russ and decide from there ;)

*waves at new forum

Here's where we're at. Well father is at. He's the robotics expert and everything. I'm just... an observer. Cardboard body courtesy of father too.

All controlled over wifi with an arduino. We're currently working getting a bluetooth controller into the mix.

Loving the movement test,

I really need to get my boy motorized.

Looking forward to seeing more.

Well worst case scenario, you could finish up the head and then mount it on a post like...what serial was that?  "Full Circle"?  I think so.  Where some primitive aliens or monsters or something knocked K-9's head off and were carrying it around on a club. ;)
"My dear Litefoot, I've got a lantern and a pair of waders, and possibly the most fearsome piece of hand artillery in all England. What could possibly go wrong?"
-The Doctor.

K-9 was always getting his head knocked off, or blown up by sea water, or run over by sentient stone blocks, or ravaged by time winds....
Does anyone get the feeling the producers were trying to get rid of him.....?

Believe me I've been tempted to have a fully working K9 head alone, mount it on a stick and be done with it 😬

Sorry mods for derailing this thread, but this is an "I feel you" post for poor old David and his nosy father.

Recently my father convinced me to upgrade my laptop, because he was getting annoyed at all the time he spent fixing it (as it turns out, trying to run Windows 10 on a 15+ year old laptop which has spent most of its time being abused by kids isn't a good idea). The final straw was when my brother tried to drop it through the second-floor window. My father said, "You know what, you should have left your brother finish the job". The laptop, to prove the point, decided to crash right afterwards. So I went looking for a new laptop, and my dad tagged along. Well, it would be more correct to say that I tagged along because everytime I picked a laptop he said "Are you sure?". Eventually I snapped and told him "Would you like to pick a laptop for me?!". And he replied "Yes I would, now that you bring it up". The sad thing is that he eventually did pick the laptop I bought...

So there, I feel you, but I'm sorry to tell you that at this level of dad-hijacking, this build diary might as well be called "David's Dad K9 Build"

Cheers!
Andy.
Oh my giddy aunt!!
