1996 TARDIS Toolkit/Gladstone bag

After watching the movie for the first time, I always wanted McCoy/McGann's leather TARDIS Toolkit. I've tried to find a bag similar to the one onscreen, but the opening flaps for all of them open more like a coin purse, rather than two separate flaps. The bag itself seems to also have a solid frame, with the leather laid on top. Does anyone know if this was a custom made item for the film, or a found piece that was possibly modified?

(Note: the photos below are not screen-caps from the film. They are photos taken by Paul Salamoff, the current owner of the bag.)

Wow, thanks for posting - I don't think i've seen those pictures before.

From what i gather and have been told, this type of Gladstone bag does exist and was used in the TV movie.

The two pics of the toolkit in the previous comment, i think were taken at a con - the producer of the TV movie gifted it to a fan who had restored the TV Movie console :)

I've been looking out for such a bag myself.

If you search eBay for Gladstone Case instead of Gladstone Bag you get more results with that style opening. There's a few available now but nothing completely identical.

Are there any other episodes where the Doctor uses a medical satchel bag?

I found a video of a similar bag on YouTube.

In Deadly Assassin he keeps a hookah in one.

And the press get fed the scapegoats,

I suspect they would not write a scene like that nowadays as some would argue it advocates smoking or "vaping".

I'm surprised they let Churchill have a cigar.

Most Gladstone bags/cases that I've found (similar to ones used in the show), all have the leather on the sides, causing the flaps to open straight, rather than at an angle similar to the one in the TV movie. If the leather was removed from the side of the flaps, it may allow a similar opening. Maybe the production removed it, so that the viewer could get a better look at the tools inside and on the flaps.
