Life has left me alone this whole week. I was so bored I could cut circular pieces pieces of wood and line them up to the best of my abilities. So I did that, and made a Baker-style sonic screwdriver out of circular pieces of wood. Sadly, the top bit that retracts is static.

I based it off Scarfwearer's plans, which I modified to suit my available materials. Sadly, I have nothing quite thin as to truly match the three rings in the sleeve thingy that comes down, so those became only two, and remain unpainted because I don't have black paint. The sonic may have benefited from a third spray paint silver coat, but that ran out as well. The slanted bit at the top was achieved through stacking circles of wood with decreasing diameters and some sanding. Overall, I think it looks decent, but I really enjoyed designing and building the emitter. It isn't perfect, but it was so satisfying to put together, and see the magnets with their black sides (courtesy of a laser) and silver tops.

For the bullet, I had to find an acceptable substitute. I have nothing that resembles a bullet, so I just chopped off the end bit of a Nerf bullet. It's not the right shape, but it doesn't look out of place. And it is still a bullet.  ;)

Lastly, one more photo with the rest of my sonic screwdrivers to give a sense of size.

I find it ironic, trying to replicate something that doesn't work on wood with wood!

Anyway, that's it from this little build. There are so many better sonic screwdrivers builds, but I'm happy with the result. Specially the emitter, as if it were the Master's keychain and he was using to hypnotize me...

Cheers,
Andy.
Oh my giddy aunt!!

Volpone

That turned out quite well!
