Hi guys,

So recently I delved in to getting some of the SA Colony Cream and Heritage Gold crackle paint, so I went and bought some 3D printed 10th Doctor Sonics

The first one I made is the Grey Aztec. I used the CO emitter and wired in an LED. The print was rather good, although the print lines were a bit of a pain to try and get rid of.

The crackle came out a bit smaller than expected, but it took a bit of experimentation to work out how to get it to crack well. The silver also wasn't that great, so I went and bought a Molotow Chrome Paint pen, and went over the sonic, and it looks better

And here it is alongside my Resprayed CT sonic and my Wand Company one

This is how the CT now looks, it looks a near dead ringer to the MFX

I'm currently in the process of making the Intermediate sonic

Well in my original post I stated I was working on the intermediate sonic, so here it is...

I got a much better crackle on this body

You can see I had to carve out a hole for the switch in the main clear tube and the two screws on the slider straddle it

I think for now I'm not going to make any more, but I've now got all
the Tennant variations

Really loving that intermediate sonic, and the crackle is doing very well! Any chance of a picture of your collection all lined up together?

I share your frustration with the print lines. It's something that is always going to be there to annoy us, but on something as small as a sonic screwdriver, painted in chrome effect paint, it's certainly an uphill struggle. You've done a fine job making it look metal.
Isn't it how ironic that we have to think of solutions out of the box, in order to build our boxes a lot of the time?

BioDoctor900

When you say the collection, you mean the Tennant Sonics or all the sonics?  :P

I mean, I think you just answered your own question  ;D

For the record, I meant the Tennant sonics... but now that you've given away that there are more...
