They look to me rather suspiciously like the spinning bird scarers you see on the top of buildings. Some of those put on copper pipes perhaps?

They might even be a completely custom fabrication for the production, possibly some suitably scissored and coiled coloured paper or foil like you get in those long, delicate Christmas decorations.

Just a thought. The doors to other areas of the Tardis are main external doors, not interior ones. Perhaps, depending on which door the Doctor exits defines which Doctor we get. Alternative Doctors, so to speak. Same principle as "Turn Left"!

I don't think there is 2 scanner screens and think there is actually 2 different array parts one with the copper hanging things and one without.

No I have looked at all the references out there. Its more symmetrical than anything. There are 2 scanners and 2 roundel walls with 1 central thing. The released promo pictures are different from each other and also different from what was in the episode. I think the promo images were taken while they were still trying to figure it all out and wasn't when they had the set finalized.
