I know the changes aren't huge but I think it's a big improvement overall. I especially like the bases on the crystals and the ceiling formation.

EDIT - I wonder why they removed the circular Gallifreyan...

Hmm, the removal of the 'writing' is an odd choice.. maybe they thought it was too much like the previous doctor's? I still think the pillars would have worked better further out from the console, around the perimeter of the room like the 'coral'/2005 version, but I like the upgrades. I assume the descending crystal/stalactite will move in sync with the time rotor, but I'm not sure if I like it yet - maybe I'm still not sold on the idea of one massive thing in the middle instead of a column with lots of detail/doo-dads in it.
Overall, I prefer it with these changes.

I'm glad to see the Gallifreyan writing removed. It was overused in much of the production design.

The changes are an improvement - especially the ceiling, which is now not so ambiguous. I won't be happy until the crystal pillars are gone, though. The dumbest part is that if there were metal shafts running through them, as the hinges indicate, you should see the metal under the crystal surface as well. They don't look the slightest bit real.

The improvements are for the better. I like the roundelled walls but the time rotor is all kinds of wrong. Too thick and rough.

I don't mind the pillars although the movement at the upper joint that we saw last season didn't seem right and I think will only look worse with the addition of the ceiling crystal.

Apparently they don't move any more. It was felt to be "distracting". No news on whether the upper crystal now moves up and down instead.

Kingpin

I'd argue the flashing lights and whirligig of the Smith/Capaldi console was more distracting than the crystals moving, but it's their set to do with what they will.

Vale

Certainly there was more (arguably unnecessary) movement in the Smith/Capaldi console, but the moving talons are just really really odd. At least the whirligig didn't look like the set was broken when it started moving.

From what I've heard, the pillars won't be moving in S12. The production team also thought it wasn't a good look, so it's been scrapped. (The real question is, will the ceiling column move up and down with the time rotor?)
