The only thing missing from that photo is an "I.M. Foreman, Scrap Merchant" sign on the wall.   There is a definite "An Unearthly Child" vibe to that setting.  Just wonderful.

Hi all, hope everyone is doing ok.

Obviously all events I had booked for now had been cancelled, so I've been taking the opportunity to make some changes, other than the occasional touch up of paint.

A few little tweaks here and there; I planed a few millimeters off the bottom and inside edge of the doors so they fit a lot better, and we also replaced all five casters underneath and as a result it can now be moved a lot easier once assembled.



I was never completely happy with my original lamp. Although it has a glass fresnel lens, I just think it looks too small. So I decided to make a new one in the later style of the lamp, for which I used a plastic frosted cylinder as the main "lens".





It took me a few days to find my TARDIS paint tin, but once I had found it (Cupboard under the stairs!  ) I also gave the roof a repaint as we barely had enough paint in the last tin to give a complete coat, so before it looked rather patchy.







All I need to do now is work on the fixings (The old lamp was placed up from the inside, the new one will have to be placed on top from the outside), and the bulb fitting.
I'll probably also try some weathering with my airbrush on the plastic lens to dirty it up a little to match the rest of the box.

Next up will hopefully be working out some internal lighting for my alternate signs, the windows and interior.

Wow.. now I am really really liking the new light on your box.  The frosted cylinder is perfect.   Great work on that. 

Now you can ship me your Fresnel (since you're not using it). 

I love the cylinder lamp! As a temporary measure I changed mine for a frosted Cylinder a while back; however I liked the look so much its become permanent.

Sadly it hasn't lasted so I'm going to have to replace it again; however the cylinder part is staying the same.

This plus the Newbury one are my absolute favourites you have done such a beautiful job I'm so so envious well done

Hi all - just a quick little update, but something which I have been wanting to change for a long time.

I recently acquired a new metal lathe, so to break it in I decided to turn a new lock barrel thingamy for the front doors. The old one was 3D printed plastic sprayed silver, which did the job but for me never looked quite convincing. The new one is a slightly wider diameter, but doesn't stand as proud as the previous one. Again I loaded some reference images aligned with my SketchUp model to determine a more accurate size.





The image below shows the old barrel compared to the new one. A definite improvement in my opinion!



The TARDIS is off to her first wedding this weekend, so I'm glad to have taken the opportunity to replace something with a bit more quality.
