Oooh...that turned out really nicely.

It's funny, how the brain works on things like this:  On the one hand, you can get away with certain things being "off" because your brain just fills in the blanks and adjusts it to make it work.  But on the other hand, you can think things look fine and then change some minor, seemingly insignificant thing and it just "pops" and takes a build to a whole new level.

That looks fantastic! And also puts me in mind of the time that I thought I saw something reflective on the door sign in the Pilot Episode... (Apologies to Tony Farrell :D )

I agree with you Marc - I think Flumbledryer's dirtied-down plastic sheet is exactly what the Production Team did way back in the autumn of 1963!  :)

In the cities in the streets there's a tension you can feel,
The breaking strain is fast approaching, guns and riots.
Politicians gamble and lie to save their skins,
And the press get fed the scapegoats,

We're on our last few updates now! All the windows have been sealed in with silicone, and weathered.
I may come back and revisit this at a later date to neaten things up when I'm not so rushed.

I've applied a little matte clearcoat all round to protect the paint. I can't wait to set the TARDIS up somewhere which will allow the lamp to finally be placed on top, as the village hall is just that little bit too short! Luckily the TARDIS will be materialising at her first event tomorrow, so I'll be sure to get plenty of photos.

And of course in authentic Black and White!

After over a year of pondering I was able to answer that worrying question... "Will it fit in the van??"

92.jpg

YES! I did measure up the van before I started building, but I was never certain it would fit, so this is a huge relief!
Plenty of room with camping mattresses and plenty of blankets for padding.

So we're pretty much there. I'll save wrapping up the build diary for when I post pictures of the final assembly, but then - nothing's ever really finished, is it? ;)

Bloody well done! that looks fantastic!

drstanlaurel

That is so spot on!!! Be proud of her, you've really got the details down, such a really accurate build  :)

Volpone

It's awfully nice.  Someone like Tony or Scarfwearer might be able to spot a discrepancy, but I'll be damned if I can.  It's a really nice 1963 box.

Lovely! And that paint job, spot on.

That's got to be one of the best Hartnell TARDIS builds ever. Superb!

markofrani

Agreed! The best I've seen. A fantastic build. Very well done!

"Barbara! We made it!"

So, the first landing was a success! The box went up like a dream - very quick and easy to put up, even with one person.

Not only was this the first time the lamp had been in place, it was the first time I had seen the box in more natural lighting. I was dreading the paintwork looking awful after all those evenings painting in dim, yellowy light, but I was pleasantly surprised at how it looked during the day.

Here are a few photos showing the final assembly. I took a few in Black and White of course ;)

It got pretty busy during the rain when people came inside, and the TARDIS got much attention with people posing for photos and of course trying the doors to get in.

And lastly a rare picture of me, in my new creation.

I'll try to start up a gallery soon.

I also wanted to say a huge huge thank you to everyone who has contributed to this site. The amount of different solutions to a single problem has really helped me out in a lot of places. Massive thanks in particular to Tony Farrell for his amazing research and plans, and Scarfwearer who's box(es) always provided a huge inspiration to me, and a quality to strive for! I always said if I came anywhere near close to the quality of his builds, I would be very, very happy.

After a couple of false starts, I got there in the end!

Still a few things to work out (as always) - Next up is to work out some internal lighting to really bring the box to life... but for now, I think I need some sleep!

Your build is amazing,  one of my top favorites on this site.   Awesome work all around man.   I have loved watching you go through the process of building it.

Thanks for the mention Ben (I may call you Ben, mayn't I?   ;)). I've no idea whether you followed my plans or not and - frankly - I don't care:

This is a triumph of observation and re-creation on your part - she's beautifully built and beautifully painted and textured too. What's more, I don't think that I've ever seen such a close match paint & texture-wise to the original...

I don't know whether you have access to Colour Separation Overlay/green-screen Ben, but these two views of your Brachacki Tardis could so easily be from Marco Polo and The Chase respectively  :) :
