Thanks, but I meant from earlier in its life when it had a square top.

I seem to remember the Mutants had a good shot...

It is indeed... :)

We all know how decrepit the prop got through out the 70's, but once they dropped the original base (around 70/71) and the prop became more wonky, did the replacement base retain a square shape?
Just bumping this as it may get have gotten lost when we went to a new page...

I'd really love to know the answer... ;)

from the caption we clearly see this photograph is misidentified.

why doesn't the Guide mention them? - Oh, it's not very accurate.
Oh? - I'm researching the new edition.

The photo is from "The Android Invasion".

This excellent series has been talking about daleks in the 60s but this final episode includes information about the police box prop which was borrowed for an Out of the Unknown story and altered to give it an actual phone cubby. Yes, Troughton's Tardis had an opening phone panel, with cupboard behind! Maybe this is common knowledge but I was completely unaware of it. Check it out.

I've not watched the video (its on my to do list) but I think the prop was modified between filming the Mind Robber and the Invasion, which is why the cubby hole door suddenly has a handle (you can see it on the "Goodbye" scenes during episode 8).

I think you can see the box was ultimately removed a couple of years later as both doors are openable again during season 8. The door remained hinged though...

Yes, the youtube vid goes into all that, very interesting. You can even see the cupboard itself is still there in the goodbye scene. Fascinating in depth series.

We - here at Tardis Builders - have had this information since 2012 when I wrote a history of the Altered Brachacki Box. Please refer to http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?topic=4489.10  :)
