Pertwee's colour version used tape anyway, so you are on the right lines.

Cardinal Hordriss

However the problem I've been having is that after a bit the tape starts sliding.

Electrician's tape has the annoying habit of doing that. It sticks great to itself but doesn't really stick to anything else for that long

Cardinal Hordriss

You'd think given the importance of what it's usually used for and with the safety issues involved they'd have come up with something better lol.

One last cosmetic adjustment. I wasn't happy with the colours of the emitter next to those of the main body so...

I liked the brass bullet tip TBH. It looks like one colour too many with the blue!

Cardinal Hordriss

I appreciate your honesty. It was something I thought about for a while but with a plain ring and sticking to primary colours it doesn't breech the boundaries of my own personal taste.

Thanks for not being offended by my post. It's a good re imagining though :)

Cardinal Hordriss

To be honest I'm more trusting of honest criticism. My own view of my work is usually quite negative so as much as I love praise and compliments I can't help but wonder whether people actually do like my work or are just doing their best to be supportive - not that I'm saying that's a bad thing, we all need encouragement at times.

I know what you mean. Well in all honesty I like it... apart from the blue bullet. A minor thing & hey its your work & you know what you like. I think sometimes we try & please everyone when sometimes we should concentrate on ourselves a bit more:)

I think this looks great! Either Brass, blue or even the original colour of the Doctors silver would look great, but as usual it's up to the individual in the end, their the ones that live & play with it.  :)

Remember it has been other colours as well.  ;)

Thank you very much.

I've decided it's an earlier model than the third Doctor's, I think you can see the design links but it's different enough to call uniquely mine.

The blue works for me.  You've really managed to make a prop that tended to look a little corny and over-the-top work.  Be interesting to see concentric rings of yellow and black instead of the spiral, but that's just me.  (I'd go predominately black with thin yellow rings.)

Thank you.

I did think of horizontal rings instead of a spiral because it would be possible to paint it then instead of using the tape. As the design already has so many horizontal details in the structure and paintwork I decided to stick with the spiral. if I change my mind in the future it's just a matter of pealing the tape off.
