In the cities in the streets there's a tension you can feel,
The breaking strain is fast approaching, guns and riots.
Politicians gamble and lie to save their skins,
And the press get fed the scapegoats,
Public Enema Number One.

Kingpin

That's the one.

I wonder what that little nobly bit is for...

I had a quick spin through a few episodes of Davison's run (season 21 to be specific), the "nobly bit" appears to have first shown up in Planet of Fire, but it doesn't seem to get any use.  It may've been installed for a sequence that was ultimately discarded from the story (Maybe something involving Kamelion, perhaps).

I see it now
why doesn't the Guide mention them? - Oh, it's not very accurate.
Oh? - I'm researching the new edition.

I reckon it's a socket for a Post Office jack (they were all the rage at the BBC. Balanced audio before the advent of XLR and they were still popular in the 2000s when I worked there).

If these were abandoned/junked, where did the walls for Dimension in Time come from? That became the Rani's interior walls?

Were fans actively making walls like those at that time?

Weren't the doors built for the big Panopticon 1993 Convention.

I thought that, and rereviewing DIT, the doors and door wall looks right.

It was the socket used by the little robot to take over the scanner in The Greatest Show in the Galaxy

Similar to a 1/4" jack, but more of a ball end on them.

And as you can see, the ring is scalloped too.

'Fraid not.  That socket (pictured below) was on a different panel, in a different location, and appeared five years after the small square one we've been discussing.

Great picture Kingpin. I'm imagining these are not from a broadcast or DVD?

Interestingly you can just about make out the grid of lights which is normally covered with smoked perspex just to the right of the picture.

You know, something that never occurred to me before. During the John Nathan-Turner years there were numerous stories set inside rooms and corridors of the TARDIS. I had assumed that many of those walls were in storage somewhere. When the tardis set was scrapped in The Greatest Show in the Galaxy, why didn't they break out those walls from storage and set them up as a back drop?. It could have been a hodgepodge creation. Even if the roundels were fragile, they must have had extras....

I think they cut this Battlefield set fresh for one time use.

The walls were there, how hard would it have been to make a few vac formed roundels as opposed to a sheet stapled to the back?
I remember thinking at the time that during this last season things were winding sadly down and prob the set didnt exist anymore.

moonbeam

Is this a solid wall with the fabric part being the roundles? I'd always been under the impression the whole wall was fabric hence the dark light to help disguise? I'd always thought cause this was the only scene in season 26 with the Tardis interior that's why it was done so cheaply and wasn't Andrew Cartmel against the idea of interior Tardis scenes?
If you take away the cheapness of the walls though it looks good doesn't it, remember thinking that as a kid.
