That is an impressive door,  love the lighting and the "When the light is green the trap is clean"  scenario.   Fits perfectly with the whole decor.   

The door reminds me a bit of the "iris" on "Stargate: SG1".  I like the Time Lords flanking it too.  You hint at the iconic "Deadly Assassin" ceremonial...cowl? without outright doing it.  

It's interesting that you've done the design with #3 in mind, because I wouldn't have thought of Pertwee's Doctor as being sentimental, given things like the "Time Monster" control room and the kitschy "Whomobile."  But when you consider Bessie and his smoking jackets and Inverness cloaks, it makes sense.  Or when #4 and Sarah find the alternate control room it has a fair share of #3 touches in it.  

You could even work it into canon.  At the end of "The Green Death," when Jo goes off with her fiance and The Doctor slips out and drives off in Bessie, he could have went off and had a couple decades of adventures before coming back to help the Brigadier with "The Time Warrior."  

Heck, you can even explain away why they go back to the more classic little white control room--when Sarah stows away, she winds up in the first place she gets to while this room is tucked away deeper in the TARDIS.  The Doctor, being his secretive self, never gets around to showing it to Sarah until she finds the one while exploring for "The Mask of Mandragora".  And even then, it's a more, "service entrance" control room--while The Doctor pretends to have forgotten about it and doesn't mention that this room is 3 doors down and on the right.

No, haven't done an open door render yet as I haven't modelled the exterior Police Box doors, which would be a few feet beyond them. I'll get round to it...

1930's New York is certainly one of the influences. I just love all that!

Looking back in my old folders for this, I came across the rough beginnings of the time rotor innards I was redoing. With the resin printer though I think I can make it much more interesting, specially as the prints are so lightweight.
