thats the image I have used on my Bolton Build, though I dirtied it down more by hand using black make up, cotton wool and my fiingers. I also resized mine in Publisher to make it almost fill an A4 sheet. Also thanks to the author, I downloaded the image off Tardis Rebuilders MSN Groups

Dematerialiser, yes that is the right(ish) style of the s18 box panel, many people do it like that, but it is slightly wrong - what you have to do is space the letters out very slightly so that the text doesn't seem like one block when viewed from afar.

That said, if you're happy with this, I'd say use it... it's more or less right.

Oh, and thanks for your comments regarding my build!

Thanks Purple / timelord

At least I'm on the right track now - I'm going to do my own versions of the season 18 sign, and the more 'arial'-like (circa) season 14 sign, in illustrator and post them to the board for general comments (and next time I'll start a new thread called 'phone panel sign' or whatever, for neatness' sake  ;)

I'm planning to put a black 'Police Public call Box' sign on my s18 build, so I think it would be interesting to try out the earlier phone sign style as well.

cheers
Chris

Hi -

I popped over onto Ebay and within seconds found a vendor selling batches of glass off cuts - sample photos of glass in the packs included hammered glass ! Emailed them re. the possibility of getting pieces cut, awaiting a reply !!

You must know what to search for, Steve - I've been hunting on ebay for weeks!

But I am in 'pebbled bliss' today because my glass arrived all 16 pieces.
I'm really happy with it (so keep this in mind if you post a reply)
Curiously, it looks like it's been taken out of something very similar to what I'm going to put it in to??

I have asked the glass people if they have more pebbled and if I can post their details on this site.

Great minds and all that...

I just ordered a $5 sample from a company that make "Cathedral glass", which seems to be American for Hammered glass. Will let you know if it looks the biz.

Oh, and the glass you have looks great, TG  ;D

That glass looks spot-on, TG  :)

(PS: I got my fresnel lens from Marinestore yesterday - thanks for the link  ;D)

I'm just posting this because I like the picture. I was trying to get a close up of the glass but the local wildlife seemed to be interested

Er, does Bambi live in your garden?

What's wrong with a cat or dog?

Clearly I haven't posted this in a place where people will say 'Ahh'
(She lives in my garden, sort of; actually I live in the middle of a wood).

Anyway Mark, my friends think it's REALLY STRANGE  to have a POLICE BOX in the garden!

p.s. She's called Mir not bambi  (Peace, in Russian, like the space station)

Well, I think he's cute!
We get visited by deer from time to time, but they eat our flowers, so they're not always welcome.

We encountered this little guy in our back garden recently...

Apparently they're not good with people, so we kept our distance.

Can't compete with that.

Best I can offer is the all too frequent visit by next door's car who keeps crapping in my Police Box hole!  >:(

While we're posting 4 legged friends, here's Mitsy. Wild animal -hardly. Nutcase - certainly!

Here you go, glass hunters !

Thought occurs - nice big bit of hammered glass, silicon flat mold, some clear non-yellowing with UV exposure casting resinn and - " VIOLA ! " as much hammered plastic glass as yoiu want and easy to cut too - -

Another cracking find.

Have you used resin before, how easy is it to use?

As I mentioned to TimeGirl in a PM, casting the glass is what I'm intending to do - it's safer that way because I know my TARDIS will be moved around a lot.  If any breaks, I can just cast up replacements.

Resin is fairly straight-forward to use, there's a product called Water Resin that cures perfectly clear and is what I'm intending on using, the only drawback is that it could prove to be more expensive than just buying the glass panes!
