I will say (and you can check my replica) that a LEGO dish like you used is dead on to the shape of the original top dish - though looking from the Battlefield appearance, it's obviously a mirrored flashlight reflector.  Im pretty sure the body is also a flashlight with rings built up with gaff tape and a couple of rubber bumpers attached to the sides.

Well you can get solid versions of that Lego dish, the frame style I just happened to have already.
I speak to you from the final days of Gallifrey. I am the past you have forgotten. You are the future I will not live to see...

Not dissing your version at all Brian, but the "original" in Mike Tucker's collection bears no resembelance to the one we see in shots from Battlefield - bits missing, colours are wrong, even the end of the extending aerial is wrong etc.

Are there any pictures of the one in the Deleted Scene from Greatest Show? Is that the one that Mike has?

David

The prop used in Battlefield was different to the one in Ghost Light et al.

As far as I can tell, it's the same prop with a different paint job each time.  It probably was in the bin as 'generic sci fi tool #12' and was modified as needed for the lighting.

In Greatest Show, the prop is painted silver (to contrast with TARDIS walls?) and has the same decorations on it as seen in Ghost Light.  There is an extra little section in the tube under the dish - but this is SO easily broken I can imagine the prop was dropped or this bit was removed when prepping it for Battlefield.  The antenna is bare with what looks like a magnetic pickup magnet on the end.  Sylv is pretty animated with the prop, whipping the antenna out and waving it around with flourishes- so it's not too much of a leap to assume it was broken and repaired during or after the scene.

In Battlefield, they left the dish silver but added a bunch of junk (looks like hot glued model parts) under the dish, but painted the handle black.  Note that the little side nubs on the bottom of the handle matches the Tucker prop exactly.  A big round bit was added to the top of the antenna.

In Ghost Light, the prop was painted white/grey.  I assume this was for studio lighting like the dull finish on the Geiger Counter.  The big round antenna bit is missing.  In the closeup you can see the top section of the antenna is completely gone leaving a hollow tube so this might have just broken off.

For the Mike Tucker display box shot, the antenna and paint looks exactly like Ghost Light except it looks like he stuffed a U-shaped mounting bracket in the broken end of the antenna.  Or maybe this was the Ghost Light end all along and it broke off in studio.

For all appearances, it looks like the dish was the same, the handle was the same, and the bit right above the round section of the handle was the same down to the exact location of the nested ovals which show up in every prop.

(To be fair, the orientation of the ovals vs. side knob under the dish may rotate too - it semis to change for every appearance.)

Here are a couple of cell phone shots of the Greatest Show appearance.  If someone can get the DVD and do proper screen grabs feel free to delete this post.4AC28F5B-BCF5-4471-B584-9729CC56D5DE.jpegF5CA844F-A074-487E-95D1-41FAAD42427F.jpeg

So it is the same prop. With so many changes I thought it was a different prop altogether or that one was maybe a stunt copy of the other.

This was my thinking really to be honest! but its peculiar to have it so different from its last appearance? I thought Mike was quite good at retaining things as they were... unless I'm looking at things in the wrong order

Keep in mind the filming order was:

Greatest Show, Battlefield, Ghost Light.

The timeline of prop changes makes sense in that order.

So..has anyone ID'd the real parts of this prop? I've been searching for similar torches but can't find anything similar. I was thinking of 3D printing one when i can get around to designing it.

Well I had a few spare mins this afternoon and I've started the files for the battlefield version. Dimensions are a stab in the dark but it's a start lol 23102F0F-EAA6-4359-B84C-4BDCE42F5E5A.jpeg

Here's an image that Mike Tucker posted in comments to a con facebook page, this is the Ghost Light reworked version, as I understand.

The handle part looks like part of a garden hose fitting. (sorry if this has been mentioned before)
