So I decided I would go and make some plans for the PR1ME box, as seen in advertisements for said computer brand.
Measurements will be added.

Looking at the adverts, it looks like the phone panel should read:
Quote
IN
EMERGENCY
DIAL
999

-without the "IF", and have an equally-proportioned edge surrounding it.

Hmm, I was doubting, as the only clear shot only shows half the sign, but I thought that IN would not be on center in thst shot without another word, and I thought IF IN EMERGENCY sounded better. However, I now agree with you and I'll change it.

why doesn't the Guide mention them? - Oh, it's not very accurate.
Oh? - I'm researching the new edition.

Any ideas where this was filmed? it looks like the South Bank (where Jon Pertwee was chased by the Draconians and Ogrons in Frontier in Space - My very first Who memory...) but to be fair, it could be any 60's -70's concrete monstrosity for a location...

I remember some of this from years back. They would show these adverts at 'Doctor Who' conventions in the US. Our PBS stations might have shown us the episodes, but they never showed these adverts, not even during their Pledge Drives when they asked viewers to contribute to keep the station running (at which time contributors became members).

So for us "Yanks", the only time we got to see goodies like this was at SF conventions (either Doctor Who or general "Sci-Fi"; any other specific cons, like 'Trek', 'Lost In Space', etc., never showed this, even though they would show a 'Doctor Who' story that hadn't made it to our PBS stations yet).

And you know, back then, I never noticed those differences in the TARDIS prop used <said hanging head in shame ;)>.

Your first instinct was the same as mine, and you're spot on - it's the raised walkway of the Southbank Centre, connecting the Hayward Gallery, one of the entrances to the Queen Elizabeth Hall, and the Royal Festival Hall:

Thanks! I'm down that way a fair bit at the moment. You think I would have noticed, wouldn't you :D

I figured as I was in the city today I'd stop by and grab a contemporary shot of the location:

Southbank.jpg

I've only just noticed I've framed it incorrectly based on the concrete railing -The PR1ME box would've been stood out of the left-hand side of the photo.

fivefingeredstyre

Ha! you beat me to it. I was going to do that on Monday :D

Kingpin

Don't stop on my account, you'd be able to grab a photo of the actual spot, rather than the one I mistook for where the box stood. :)

Cardinal Hordriss

Did that architectural monstrosity look any better when it was new or has it always looked like a dated pile of concrete muck?
I speak to you from the final days of Gallifrey. I am the past you have forgotten. You are the future I will not live to see...

It's probably like the old (now demolished) bus station in my home town: outdated before it was even opened. :)

When I was there on Tuesday some of the concrete was looking in very poor condition, I think I even spied some spots of degredation.
