Following on from a comment Rassilonsrod made in the Black Orchid reference thread - The doors here are shown as being Left hand leaf opening. did we ever see this during the boxes regular run?

Wow, how rickety is that box!

I noticed that the beams going over the windows on the doors (do we have a name for them?) overlap the frame around the window. I have never noticed that before, always assumed they were flush to the frame. Is that a feature unique to the Newbery? I didn't spot the same thing on the sides in the pictures...

Yikes, all you need is a stiff wind to make the TY-J shift, and that wobbling lamp!

This was due to the window frame being used to pull the (right-hand) door closed - N.B., the door had no handle. The damage to the window frame (and hurried, crude, repair) is clearly visible from Destiny of the Daleks onwards.

I dont suppose anyone has plans for the Newbery Altered do they? I have been after some for a while now and if anyone has some would they be willing to share them with me please?

The "Logopolis" Newbery Box is simply the Newbery Box fitted with a TY-J roof stack and new top signage.



Hopefully the plans are sufficiently clear to show that both the Newbery and TY-J roof stacks were 1150 mm wide so, it was simply a case of casting a second TY-J roof and slotting this into the void on top of the Newbery Tardis.

(Note, the plans for the Newbery Box are subject to confirmation using wire-frame/photogrammetry as Slava/DW1200 and I did for the Brachacki Tardis. However, as Slava is busy on my behalf with another project, this is for the future.

If our experience of working on the Brachacki Box is anything to go by however, the Newbery Plans posted above will require adjustments by fractions of a centimeter only i.e., they do not yet take into account little idiosyncrasies like unevenly spaced window panes or the unevenly cut retaining 'trims' which were added to hold the top signs in place.)

Not to do away with Tony's research on this build but I wonder how plausible it would be to guess measurements from the measuring sticks Tom uses against the box in the TARDIS interior scenes?

Was the new roof wooden or fibreglass?  As Matthew Waterhouse was on the roof, if it was fibreglass it wouldn't have supported his weight?

It was fibreglass, it's a TYJ roof
It would have been more than strong enough, it's very strong.
Why would you suppose it would be weaker than timber?
Anyway, the roof is now on TYJ 2
Indestructible solid as concrete
(That is my belief anyway, because the production kept everything for series & didn't waste a thing or make more when there was no budget or necessity)
