I love this prop, it's great to see a TARDIS that actually looks like a real metbox.

I don't think I've ever seen a pic of the Cushing box with this amount of detail before. Brilliant find!

One thing that bothers me about the DW movies & the series. Which came first? Considering the Tardis console, or lack of in the movies. Were they working on the idea of the console & haven't come up with something definite between the movies & series. Were both movie & series being made at the same time? Was the series made first & the movie people not informed the series control room looked better? Were the movie people experimenting on control rooms?
I'm getting a headache with all this chicken & egg stuff. Someone please, tell me the answer before my my brain blows up like a Dalek in "The power of the Daleks". XP

What impresses me most is that backdrop painting of London.  The thing has to be 20 feet tall at the very least!  I suspect if examined in closeup, the details would be almost "impressionistic".  But filmed at the correct distance and lighting, the image is almost photographic.

Funny, I'm reminded of those recent "behind the scenes" clips for "The Mandalorian" in which they use video backdrops of similar scale.  Even just 20 years ago, who would have imagined we would, or even could use just technology for genre entertainment, let alone 55+ plus year when this movie was produced!

The movies were released in 1965 and 1966.

I couldn't say when the idea first came up but the tv show had certainly been running for 18 months when they started shooting...
