Those lunch queues can get nasty.

I believe the meals are provided by Galli-fray Bentos!  (I'll get me coat...)

So I am in Binghamton NY of all places last weekend visiting my fiance's family and we are in a Barnes and Nobles book store.   I wander over to the magazine section because I want to flip through the Doctor Who magazine and who should I see but good ol' Russ in this costume and the Master's.   I know steve already mentioned you were in it but it didn't really register.   I went into full fanboy mode when I saw the pictures.  I was all like (to my fiance)  yep....aahhh i know that guy!!!!  Russell Suthern..uh huh..yep good friends...he's liked my console a few times (all braggy in tone)  LOL.   I think the first words out of my mouth were like NO WAY!!!!!!!

I love it when members here have that little bit of celebrity!!!  Good job man.

...and when you explained that you'd never actually *met* him, you knew him from an Internet BBS where other people who build Dr. Who props hang out, she looked at you in a loving but pitying way and gently patted your arm because she knew you were crazy when she married you.  ;)

My hat is off to all of you have spouses who lovingly put up with your eccentricities.  Partly because you have someone to hold the camera so you can be in your photos.  :)

Wow!! Fame at last!!!

I'm truly honoured that you were excited to see my pics.

And as for having never met, I have to say I consider you guys better friends than most of the idiots I have to deal with in real life!! ::)

Best regards to one & all,

Russell

I second Karst's "Ditto"! And, Karst, as I enter an Envious(tiny).jpg fan boy moment of my own can you please post the issue and volume number of your Doctor Who Mag? We've got a few Barnes & Noble's around me, but the last two I've been to haven't had any and I was looking for the sake of looking, to catch up on some 'Doctor Who' news, never knowing what lurked inside. (Honestly, ever since Borders closed their doors forever years back, sources for the DWM have been almost non-existent. Borders seemed to be the only store that had a regular stock of them. All the others are hit-and-miss, and being on the left side of the pond it's really difficult to keep up on what the latest issue is.)

I've gotten my hands on the issue with members' consoles in it (celation's for one), and an electronic copy (with great help) of Tony helping out with the Brachacki-Altered TARDIS from "Twice Upon A Time". And now with Russell making the cut? I've got to get my hands on one of those! (I know I've probably missed out on some other great articles that featured works from TB members, but when I know there's another out there, I try to get hold of it!)

Great work on getting recognized, Russell! (I think if I had found one of those DWMs and thumbed through it like I usually do and saw you in it, my reaction would have been very similar to Karsten's... only louder!

Hey Dino,

Thanks for your kind words, I hope you manage to find a copy...

It's the September issue:  Number 528.

Watch out for that hurricane,  btw...

Best regards,

Russell

It looks like the US is still lagging when it comes to getting the issues of Doctor Who Magazine. Went to two large Barnes & Noble today and the only issue they had out is June (number 527). So it looks like we're (roughly) two months behind. I'll give it until the end of October and start looking again.

I will get this one!

You'd have thought with today's fast moving global economy, these things would come through faster than that...

Oh well, good luck- I hope you find an issue eventually.  :)

They probably sent them by slow mail (ship) as by air would probably cost a fortune!  :( :-\
We have the same problem here in Australia, & that's IF you can get them!  :-\ >:(

I would think in the age of broadband they'd just contract regional printers to download the file for the magazine and print it up rather than ship it all the way from England.  But I guess if you're selling paper magazines, there's a level of obsolescence in there from the start.
