I used their two part resin for the sign boxes, again no degassing or need for a vacuum chamber - hardly any air bubbles, just gave the mould a good few taps!

Finally, it's blue (mostly)! After a couple of coats of the base blue I've started to fit the windows. They are matted down 2mm perspex plus the cast resin panels for the pebble glass. These are glued into place with Glue N Glaze which gives a good bond and, being water based, doesn't fog the perspex like superglue would. It also dries clear and any excess can be trimmed of with a craft knife if necessary. These are then painted on the reverse with Vallejo acrylic paint.

Two down, six to go.

Just perfect. If theres one thing I've learned over building scale model versions of the TARDIS props, its that the windows are the things that really make it pop!

These really do look spot on, well done!

I found something ideal for the Yale lock in a box of random bits, it's a hole cover from some Ikea furniture. It was originally domed but I took the top of with a belt sander, it's stuck to a piece of scrap wood to make handling easier and to keep it square on the sander.

Sorry it's been so long since an update, blame work, holiday, decorating - usual stuff!

Finally finished fitting the roof section, lots of fiddly filling and sanding to get a perfect fit (or as near to perfect as possible!). It's had a couple of coats of blue as per the sides, just need to give it another coat all over before applying some subtle weathering.

I've also been working on the roof light.

I cut a couple of discs from ABS sheet using a hole saw, then mounted them on the pillar drill to sand down to the right size. The dished dome for the top is from EMA, the support struts are round styrene rod. For the bolt heads on the top I used some hexagonal styrene rod sat on some small ABS disks. Once completed it was given a few coats of white primer.

In the base I've installed a flashing LED, once I've got the fresnel sorted it will sit over the LED and the top and struts will slide into place through the holes in the base.

     

Well, that was an unexpectedly long break!

Finally pushed on and managed to get it finished, so here are a few pics of the (almost) final model. The fresnel was built from EMA parts and cast up in resin, the shapes a little off and it's about 5mm too tall but it will do until I invest in a 3D printer sometime this year.

I kept the weathering light as the original was nearly always a fairly flat blue.

Looking very nice! As for the weathering, if you wanted to be really adventurous, you could slap some chalk on it for the "birthday card" look!

You know, I did consider it! 

Simply fantastic. This would make a great kit!

The box looks good, although the fresnel appears to be a little on the tall side compared to the lamp on the prop.

Shogs...........a fantastic model, you put a a lot of love and attention to detail into it, which has really paid of. The subtle weathering works a treat.
