I'm loving this! You make an excellent Fourth Doctor!
Isn't it how ironic that we have to think of solutions out of the box, in order to build our boxes a lot of the time?

Thanks guys, I'm blushing!

Seriously, it really means a lot to me....

Let's crack on....

DOCTOR WHO & THE DEADLY ASSASSIN
                                                                                     EPISODE 2

The Timelords capture the Doctor.

They give him a snazzy set of new threads then start to torture him!
(Talk about mixed messages....)

I love this look for Tom!
He plays the romantic/Byronic style hero brilliantly!
The actual costume wasn't too difficult to throw together.
The red trousers were from a charity shop.
The shirt was a pirates shirt from Ebay.
The sleeves & collar weren't quite as flamboyant as I'd liked, but it looks okay...
I made the boots myself....
Here's the build diary...

"Doctor, this tickling stick is, at the moment, only aimed at your face. If you don't start talking, I'll move it down to your feet..."

105.jpg   106.jpg

The Doctor runs for President to buy himself some time.
He finds Runcible's video technician jammed into the recording drum of a TV camera. He has been turned into an Action Man (complete with gripping hands.)

107.jpg   108.jpg

This leads the Doctor to realize that the evil genius behind the whole plot is none other than his oldest & bitterest enemy- The Master!

I'm very proud of my Master costume, so here are some more pics:

The Doctor enters The Matrix (a few years before Keanu Reeves did!) to winkle out his enemy.

Once there he enters an horrific dreamscape where he is assaulted by many hideous images like spiders, crocodiles, Samurai, clowns etc.
The one that really got me was the evil surgeon with the horse needle. Nightmare city!

117.jpg   118.jpg

I didn't want to spend too much on this one, so I cobbled it together using bits I had around the place.
The scrubs were made using garden sacks. Because they are shiny, they came out looking more like a Hazmat suit, but it still looks ok...

The episode culminates with the Doctor getting his foot trapped in a railway track & almost run over by a train.
At the time, I thought this was one of the greatest cliffhangers ever!

119.jpg
120.jpg

I couldn't find any disused track & I didn't want to die, so I mocked up a portion of track which looks gloriously shoddy.

As always, I'm having great fun with these pics...

Episode 3 next!!

Russell

there is no way you are going to get your foot out of that thing!!!!   :P
I want notes, lists and answers by the time I finish this here Juicy-a-Box! WARNING: I am Thirst-ay! And it is Fruit Punch! And it is Delicious!"

Don't worry, Karsthotep.... It was just an illusion....

DOCTOR WHO & THE DEADLY ASSASSIN
                                                                        EPISODE 3

The Doctor is pursued through the Matrix by a mysterious big game hunter....
(Who, let's face it, we all know is Goth- I mean, he doesn't even try to disguise his voice!)

The two have a terrific running battle in episode three. Barely a word is spoken, but the fight is really quite grim & relentless.
Gripping stuff.
Goth's hunting outfit was another one where I didn't want to spend too much money & wasn't too worried about accuracy. I just wanted to have fun running around the local park pretending to hunt the Doctor! ;D

So I cobbled the costume together using stuff I had around. I think I had to spend £1 on the toy gun from The Pound Shop...

123.jpg   124.jpg

125.jpg   126.jpg

127.jpg   128.jpg

At one stage the Doctor tries to stop Goth with a poison dart...

129.jpg  130.jpg

At the end of the episode, Tom & Bernards' stunt doubles have a terrific punch up...

131.jpg132.jpg

This ends with another great cliffhanger, which got Mary Whitehouse all steamed up.
Goth holds the Doctors' head under water, trying to drown him.

I didn't do this one 'cause I didn't want to get wet...

Fourth & final episode up soon....

Thanks for tuning in!!

                                                                  THE DEADLY ASSASSIN
                                                                        EPISODE FOUR

The Doctor manages to beat Goth by bashing him with a great big stick.
I always chuckle when I hear the interview with Tom Baker where he says something along the lines of, "I always used to outwit my opponents, I never engaged in fisticuffs."

He obviously forgot about The Sontaran Experiment, The Seeds of Doom, The Deadly Assassin...!

Anyway, The Doctor manages to escape from the Matrix.
It appears that the Master & Goth are both dead & the danger has passed.

For reasons too complicated to go into here, Borusa orders Hildred to shoot the Master in the face. (They really hold a grudge, these Timelords, don't they?)

However, the Master was just faking & he kills Hildred by turning him into an Action Man (complete with gripping hands.)
But lets face it, no one really liked the man...

133.jpg   134.jpg

I'm quite pleased with my Hildred dolly, so here's some more pics:

135.jpg   136.jpg

The Master confronts the Doctor, Engin & Spandrell, demanding that they hand over the Sash of Rassilon.

137.jpg   138.jpg

The Master wants the Rod & the Sash of Rassilon so he can harness the power of the Eye of Harmony, regenerate himself & attain unlimited power.

139.jpg

Compared to some of his schemes, this one seems quite sane...

"Rassilons discovery...The Eye of Harmony...All mine!"

140.jpg  141.jpg

"If you unleash the Eye of Harmony, you'll die as surely as the rest of us!"

"You can do better than that, Doctor, I wear the Sash of Rassilon!"

"That won't protect you.. It's just a cardboard prop make by Russell Suthern for his Cosplay thread!"

"Bugger..."

The Doctor & the Master have a punch up...

142.jpg143.jpg

The Master falls to his death (or does he?)  & the Doctor stabilizes the eye.
Huzzah! Gallifrey is saved!

The Doctor bids his farewells & the Master also escapes...
The Universe isn't big enough for the both of them...

They think they've got problems... My flats not big enough for all the props & costumes I'm amassing!!!

Right, I'm going to have a stiff drink & a lie down in a darkened room after that little lot!!

Thanks for watching.

Regards,

Russell

Where would the Doctor be without his companions?
Both the Doctor & the show owe a great debt to those intrepid assistants.
So I decided to tackle some of my favourite companions in my thread. ( No, I don't think I'll do Adric... Got to draw the line somewhere!)

Anyway, as the next episode in my journey through the 4th Doctor's tenure is "The Face of Evil", what better time to showcase my tribute to one of the best companions of all time...Leela!

Hope you like the pictures:

This is how I got the look, if any of you fancy a go...

The wife thinks I look more like an 80's glam rock star than Leela...

Oh well...  "Ooooo  oooo, we're halfway there, ooooo ooooo.... Living on a prayer!!!"

Thanks for looking in!

logically no.... But it would be screen accurate ;)
In the cities in the streets there's a tension you can feel,
The breaking strain is fast approaching, guns and riots.
Politicians gamble and lie to save their skins,
And the press get fed the scapegoats,

Hi all,

Just got back from a weeks training trip in Toledo, Spain.
Toledo is famous for It's swords, so of course I bought a couple to add to my collection. You can never have too many swords, just too few arms. When I die I'm coming back as Kali, Indian Goddess of war,so I can play with all my swords at the same time!

Only away for a week, but it seems like things really started stacking up while I was away, so I need to work through a bit of a backlog before I can get back into my Cosplay thread. (Real life always getting in the way...)

In the meantime, I thought you might like to see this antique looking magnifying glass I found.
The old mincers ain't what they used to be, & I need help now to read the small print, so this will help me.
Whenever I need to read some small writing, I can whip it out in a very Doctor-ish fashion.

mg1.jpg   mg2.jpg

I'm racking my brains to remember if Tom ever used a magnifying glass?
I know he used a microscope & I think he used a jewelers eyeglass, but did he ever actually use a magnifying glass in the series?

I seem to remember a magnifying glass among all the junk he tips out of his pockets in "Genesis of the Daleks..."

Anyway, it seems like the sort of thing he'd do, so that's good enough for me!

Back with more soon....

Regards,

Russell
