The width of 1365 mm (outside edge of corner-post to outside edge of corner-post) comes from the later wide-corner post box with the "Clara floral decorations" on it - what Will Brooks calls "Tardis G" - i.e., the final box to be built.

Yes, that's exactly what I needed to know, thank you)

ok im really confused now this has all confused me so what exactly is the width and height in inch's and feet so i can correct this fault as google's measurements are making me mad with it constantly getting it wrong i used google as im terrible at working out things and most lily cant do this on my own im only good at drawing them

I'm not quite sure why you'd want to convert metric to imperial dimensions as the 'Nu Who' boxes were all constructed using metric dimensions but, here goes:

One inch equals 25.4 millimeters. So, to convert millimeters into inches, you divide the number of millimeters by 25.4.

For the base - as stated by TPE - you have 1500 mm divided by 25.4 = 59.055 inches.

Outside edge of corner-post to outside edge of corner-post is 1365 mm (as measured on Tardis G). So, 1365 divided by 25.4 = 53.74 inches.

Height of box - excluding the lamp - as stated by TPE is 2800 mm (I assume this includes a small gap under the base for the castors). 2800 divided by 25.4 = 110.24 inches.

Height of box - as stated by TPE - including lamp = 3200 mm (again, I assume this includes a gap for the castors). 3200 mm divided by 25.4 = 125.98 inches which - as near as dammit - is ten feet six inches.

was wrong a second time hows this?2005 and 2017 TARDIS heights.jpgrealistic measure.jpg

Don't forget to take into account Capaldi's body position. He's not standing perfectly straight. (See his right leg is slightly bent as he's leaning on the TARDIS? So that's going to make him look less than 72 inches tall in that pose.) Those few inches will have an effect on the overall dimensions of your TARDIS model if you're using him as the measuring guide.

So in that pose, I would guess Capaldi's height would be measured at around 69 inches (a 3-inch slouch?).

TPE TARDIS measured was the series 7b. Dimensions on the website are approximate (slightly bigger) to ensure customers aren't wedging it into a space that's too tight.  Ooh matron!

boxman550

sorting it metric is to confusing for me all im asking is do you know the width and height of TARDIS f in feet the rest i can probably sort myself from that

so overall from what you've said this should be width and height is this correct ?
width 4ft9
height 10ft 4
is this correct? :)width.PNGheight.PNG

tony farrell

Yes!

(Though bear in mind that Type40 has just stated that TPE have slightly increased the basic height and width stated on their website to ensure customers will have sufficient room - unfortunately, he hasn't stated by how much but I would guess that we're only talking a couple of centimeters or so.)

For information, Type40 has also stated that TPE used the "Series 7B" box when measuring the prop (this is what Will Brooks calls "Tardis E"). I measured "Tardis G" (the one painted with flowers). Again, the width of Tardis G (outside edge to outside edge of the corner posts) is 1365 mm which equates to 4.478 feet - its base is obviously wider but I didn't have the opportunity to measure this as there were too many people around.

ok and thank you for your help sorry if i was a pain i just want to get this perfect im betting the best i can get is the tpe measurements thank you for all the help though i really appreciate it

Not meaning to add to any confusion, but keep in mind that "4.9 feet" doesn't mean "4ft 9in", just as Tony's stated width of "TARDIS G" at 4.478 feet doesn't mean 4ft 4.78 inches. That measurement (4.478 feet) is close enough to count as "4.5 feet" (4-and-a-half feet), which translates to 4ft 6in.

Unless my maths are off (Tony, please correct me if I'm way out in the Delta Quadrant), but "4.9 feet" translates to 4ft 11.27in (or close to 4ft 11-and-a-quarter inches).

then what would it be in feet and inch's

tony farrell

But we've been through this T@rdisman550 - one inch equals 25.4 millimeters.

Whatever the value is in millimeters, divide that by 25.4 and you have the result in inches! There are twelve inches in a foot so, once you know how many inches you have, divide that figure by 12 and you have the answer in feet.

I'm sorry, I genuinely don't understand the difficulty.

boxman550

i find things like this difficult and dino confused me more by saying 4.9 is 4ft 11 i thought it was 4ft 9

boxman550

im going to try and work this out i just find it really difficult with maths im autistic i panic i like things being perfect and get easily stressed by things and im sorry if im annoying its just to difficult to me but im gonna try and work this out
