Well, Having worked out how best to build my corner posts I am face with a decision (though not a pressing one as yet because I am still working on the sides)

With the Hudolin's walls being set further back than most models the corner posts must be thicker on the outside edge (3" instead of 2")
This can be achieved the same way that many other builds have been, with a sandwich. However because of the deeper set doors, and because of the thickness of standard wood sizes this would require (building using Glenn's sandwich method) 5  2by6's and one 2by4 ripped down to 1" in thickness and whatever length is required for each piece (see diagram)

This obviously will make each post quite expensive to make, not even counting the quarter round required to trim it out.
On the right is an idea I had to reduce the cost of each post to the price of 4 2by6's though I am not sure that I am in favor of it because of visible joints on the outside of the post as well as possible exposure of "bad cuts" on the jamb edge nearest the door where there would be no quarter round, yes the "texture" or some filler may take care of it but should it be affected by the weather it is sure to be a source of problems.

I am just curious if anyone has any ideas that may work better, without making the door jamb just a thin piece as the walls still need to attach to it.

[EDIT]having just been to Home Depot to get the stuff to do my final side, I have now calculated that the corner post method on the left above will cost around $26 per post, not counting quarter round trim, and obviously will result in lots of wastage.
