Wow. Those Phone Door hinges were HUGE!!! And seeing that guy with the sledge hammer standing on the roof is rich. You wouldn't be allowed to do that THESE days!

I just realized something.  Those demo photos look like they should be from the 1950s or before, but obviously they are from late 1970.  In America (probably even in 1970) they'd do something like that with a backhoe.  Tear it all apart in 5 minutes or so and then load it all onto the dump truck in one fell swoop.

It looks like in this vid the box has blue window frames. (So, Other Steve (Volpone), if you wanted to keep your existing box with white window frames, and build a Met Box companion for the Old Girl - sort of 'Logopolis-esque' like you mentioned - you could give your Met Box blue window frames and still be historically correct. (I can't see the Phone Panel, but I would guess it's still white with blue lettering.)

No definitely got white frames in this video as per normal.....
Something I didn't mention was the other photo's of this box show they are white (1959-1970)

Really? It looks to me like those muntons going across the window panes are the same dark color as the rest of the box, and there isn't a very visible frame around the window panes. One would think if the window frames (and muntons) were white, they'd be closer to the same color as the window panes rather than matching the color of the box. (Again this is just my observation from the video. I'd be curious to hear what others think about it.)

I think what you might be seeing as the (white) windows, is actually the very blurry frames. In daylight the windows would look dark, unless the sunlight is reflecting off them.
There's a lot of MPG artefacting and de-interlacing caused by the Youtube compression. In the case of the thin lines of the windows that could easily screw with perception.

The attitude to Health and Safety in those pictures is just as scary as the demolition of the box. No fencing to protect the public as the sides fall. No PPE for the demotion crew. Just horrifying.  One of those panels comes down, just as a member of the public is passing by. You'd get sued within an inch of your life for that these days.
