Hi all you Tardis builders.

Can anyone help me, I have almost finished building my Tardis but I am having problems finding a sound and light kit for the blue light on top. Can anyone help me or direct me to where I can buy one from.

Thanks

Hey, Robert! Well, the light on top actually wasn't blue, except for Season 17 when they used a rotating blue police car-type light on the Old Girl. For the rest of her life (whether Brachacki, Newbery - Season 17 excepted, Yardley-Jones, Hudolin, or Richmond-Thomas), that light has always been white. Sometimes with a Fresnel lens, sometimes with a frosted cylinder, sometimes with clear "glass" (New Series, Series 1-4), but always white.

In the Classic Series, the light and sound were independent of each other, so there was no syncking of light and sound. That's a thing of the New Series and not really a necessity. (Early in Series 1, the 9th Doctor's TARDIS didn't have the light flash in sync with the sound.) That said, you should find several different ideas among these topics: http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?board=79.0.

Also, we have that Search bar in the top right corner of every page. If you're looking for something specific on the lamp and its flashing, you can search for key words and that will probably answer most of your questions.

I hope this is helpful.

In the model kit industry, there are aftermarket lighting kits for most everything.

Examples:

I believe Tenacontrols also make custom lighting kits as well. You may want to ask about a custom kit.

Ghostbusters Proton Pack lighting kits:

...
etcetera.

I am unaware of a Tardis lighting kit - but if I come across one I'll let you know.

You may want to check the http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?board=92.0 section. As often the sound kits have ways of incorporating lights.
why doesn't the Guide mention them? - Oh, it's not very accurate.
Oh? - I'm researching the new edition.

I just took the lights and circuit board out of a Character Options Flight Control toy TARDIS. I added a slightly larger speaker and changed the switches, but other than that it's just what came with the toy.

The sound is synced to the light, there's a few different take off and landing patterns and it only cost me a few pounds off eBay.

It's plenty loud enough for my indoor needs, not sure how well it would work outside though. I guess you could run it through an amplifier? Maybe?
