My wife is a HUGE fan of the late Phillip Madoc.   Brain of Morbius is her all time favorite Doctor WHO episode that he appears in.  (The other episodes being the Krotons and Power of Kroll)

I've always wondered what fluid they use to make the green water color in the Brain Tank.
I was thinking, ether highlighter marker ink or car radiator coolant fluid. Any ideas, thoughts?

I know health and safety wasn't really a thing at the time, but I imagine it would probably be something that isn't very toxic - first off the bright green Antifreeze / break fluid / radiator coolant - have a very chemical smell to them and I imagine they would want to get those scenes with the brain out of the way as the hot studio lights and the sent would cause the cast and crew to probably gag at the aroma.

I don't know what they used - but There is a cleaning product today I can find - I think it is Mr Clean floor cleaner. Maybe mixed with a little toy slime  for the later scenes when the brain gets dropped on the floor.

I can tell you what we have done for laboratory scenes when making a haunted house here.   I would fill up the jar full of water and then break open a yellow or green (or both) highlighter pen ad put it in the water until it turns day-glo.

There's a video on the DW channel of a chat with Mike Tucker, they talk about the mould of the original brain which is still in their possession. Something to use as point of size reference?

If it's like the one I've got, it's 80mmlong, 65mm wide & 55mm high. hope this helps. Or you message the seller of the one for the link I gave you for dimensions.

Also on this note, Antifreeze is very attractive to pets (animals in general) because of its odd sweetness, and even one lick is extremely lethal to them. So if you've got pets, using Antifreeze would be a horrible idea. (And actually, one teaspoonful is enough to kill a person with symptoms resembling a heart attack. I like Don's (handofomega) idea of using the highlighters. They're non-toxic, even to animals. Mr. Clean would also work, and animals don't like the smell so will stay away from it. Also, it won't grow strange things in it like water can. And of course, you can mix the Mr. Clean with water to get the right color as well. The "fluid" looks not so green when it's gushing out of the hole once Solon removes the hose so the Mr. Clean and water mix could be a good one to try. This way you're not using up a whole bottle of cleaner, which can get expensive depending on how large your brain tank is.

And don't forget the bright green light in the bottom of the tank. That adds to the green color of the water, so a partial mix of Mr. Clean and water would work okay with the green light, and the cleaner would keep things from growing in the water.
