Hi
So, as I promised last week, that this project is going to be huge, you're going to see now.

If you were wondering why there was such a big gap between the last date, it's because I'm on a class trip to the North Sea. I liked it very much and I could relax for some time.

Juli 7/8/10 2017
I want this model to be a 360-degree model, like that of the 12th doctor
I finally started building the TARDIS skeleton and started with the roof. Since the TARDIS is a time machine, I wanted to draw attention in some things. In this way, the TARDIS will have twelve pillars, which should stand for twelve hours.

It was a terrible time to build the same thing again and again. But it has paid off.

Juli 18 2017
Now I have expanded the pillars to the height that could fit. Fortunately this was correct and I did not need to add cardboard or remove cardboard. Then the slightly higher plane, which is around the edge of the columns, was added. The pillars were similar to the 12th, but I wanted to have them a bit more angular to emphasize modernity. The entrance was also added to the right position and everything began to take shape

20170718_194319.jpg

I tried to build everything out of cardboard, but this was not strong enough to hold the columns at the correct distance, so I added some laminate floorboards. The columns were glued directly after the middle section was glued to it. This had to be fixed first on it because there was no other way to add this later.

And that's it again. Have I promised too much? Hope you like it. We'll see you all later: D

Finally
it's time for another Update.

Juli 24/30 2017
I've tried to figure out how to build the stairs between the different levels. It worked well, but it is very steep. I think I'll try again another time.

August 11/12/13 2017
I had to move the TARDIS because it is so massive that it blocks the whole space. At the moment it is on my desk. There I build the ground. It is so time consuming, so I had to work on it for three days: (And I've changed the transition between the ground floor and the floor on which the centre piece sits.

Now it was finally time to move the TARDIS out of my room. Since it did not fit through my door, but through all the other doors in the house, I pulled it out through my window and through the main entrance of the house again.

August 23/25 2017
I just tried to get rid of the cracks between the parts of the cardboard and changed some parts that I did not like anymore.

September 6 2017
On the next day I built the Entrances for the ground floor. It's in similar shape like the main entrance of the TARDIS.
20170906_181239.jpg20170906_181248.jpg20170906_185605.jpg20170906_204724.jpg20170906_211927.jpg20170906_213556.jpg

And then it happened I was not so concentrated that evening, so I cut myself very deep into my finger. Fortunately, it quickly healed.
Now I have to rest a bit, but I will work again at the TARDIS as soon as possible.

Now a message for younger ones on this Website: if you're working with knives, please be careful or get assistance from one of your parents!!! Because I can clearly say that knives are very sharp

Hopefully you're all fine. So be merry and be happy and we're going to see next time.

Ouch! Fingers sure do bleed!  :o
I'm looking at the WIP images... The red straws with the plain pale grey room has feeling of classic (70's/80's who) that looks nice.
A mixed-up non-conformist, trying to fit in.

Mark

Hope the finger gets better soon. I have to say those last few pictures look very atmospheric.

Hi lupus,
Thank you for your comment. The finger is not as bad as it looks and to this day very well cured. But since I am not so familiar with the classic DW, I have looked at your description of the TARDIS and can tell you that you are right. I should definitely look at the classic Doctor Who episodes, in order to get further inspiration for my TARDIS.
Have a nice Weekend :)

Hi Mark,
I appreciate your comment very much. I am also happy about the good recovery. I've darkened the picture a little bit and set the contrast higher to create the atmosphere. I hope I can show you more next week.
Have a nice Weekend :)

Hi Manuel,
This Tardis is becoming a true work of art, great structural elements and a very futuristic feel.
Please tell me you are going to put some lights on this beauty, it is atmospheric already, but with the right lighting you could zoom off the wow scale!
Hope your finger is feeling better by the way, ouch is all I can say on that matter.
Rob.

Hello Rob,
I am very happy about your comment. I'm sorry that I can only answer now. Now to your idea. I have thought about the idea lights, and I can tell you that they will come. I'll just have to know how I'll do it. Thank you for your good recovery. The finger is now completely restored.
In the holiday season, I hope I will be able to continue working on the project.
See you, Manuel

Hello Hello,
My last update is a date in the past. I'm sorry you had to wait so long. There was also no need for an update because I've made little progress. As you may have heard from me: "It is so ." Also, I was sick, and I had to learn for exams and ........
The list goes on. Since I feel bored very quickly and I need some change, I started a new diary a few days ago. It is the TARDIS Exterior as 1/10 model and the doors for this model. You will see this as soon as possible.
But now you just enjoy (a bit).

September 30/ October 8/17/21/23 2017
What have I done ?
First I built the walls for the lower half of the TARDIS. It gets quite dark in the TARDIS. (Whooo spooky) Then I put out supporting strips. These are designed so that the walls can be removed if required.
20170923_165610.jpg
20170923_165433.jpg

I chose the hex pattern for the walls. As in the Capaldi TARDIS.
20170923_155011.jpg
20171008_175025.jpg

Aaaaaah it hurts. But I removed the roof..( shocked moment)... It's for having better movement for working inside the TARDIS.
20171021_131050.jpg
20171021_131120.jpg
20171021_131136.jpg

Since I did not like the clash between the wall and the floor, I built a piece between. This also gives me the possibility to add lights later in the construction process.

Here is a Youtube video, where I tried to move a little through the inside of the TARDIS. I'm sorry the video is so dark. But it's just a test for now.

I'm so sorry, but that's it again. The next update will come soon. Promise.

Hi Manuel,
Good to see you have progressed with the build, even though you have been busy, sick, etc.
Definitely liking the executive design decisions made so far, she is really coming together very very nicely.

Just 2 very quick passing comments;

1. You said that now you have put the back walls on it is getting dark inside your Tardis, all the more reason to light it!
I used a plethora of lighting on my Tardis, from store bought LED's, custom made LED's, EL wire, EL strips and fibre optics, all battery operated and quite easy to install. More than happy to pass on the sites that I used for your reference should you require them.
I was amazed at how much of a difference the lighting made to the feel of the Tardis, it really gave it more atmosphere and realism and was relatively inexpensive in the grand scheme of things.
2. This one is a slight negative and is only my humble opinion, but I feel you need to change the existing staircase, the rise and going of your staircase dictate that you reduce the number of risers and treads. Even though it is quite steep, by doing this it will look more realistic, ergonomic and practical.
More than happy to discuss, help in any way I can or even draw it up for you if you are unfamiliar with staircases, they can at the best of times be a pain to get right, obviously it is your decision and choice at the end of the day, but I thought I would just put in my 2 cents worth of honest opinion, with the offer of help as well if at all required.

With the slight negative out of the way, back to the positive, the video you have posted as a test is looking really good already and you have yet to complete the project. I have already subscribed and commented on YouTube, so keep up the brilliant work!

Very impressive work! Also inspiring, I want to build the wooden console room from Tom Baker's era, but don't really have the space, but a miniature version I could do, in wood too, since I'm a carpenter. thanks for the inspiration!
It's always a matter of time...

Hi Rob
I was very happy about your comment. I also thank you for your nice help.

1. I know that you like to write that lights give more atmosphere and realistic. Anyway, I like to answer that they will come: D.
It is very interesting to hear which LEDs you have used. I have already informed on model construction pages which lights are used. There I also learned that they use the same as you. I bought some fairy lights with which I also had good experiences. I could even buy these in the regional shop around the corner. Nevertheless, you are welcome to share your pages with me.

2. You are right. I have already communicated it once in a previous post. I would welcome it if you share your experiences with me. It is always great to learn something new. If you need any measurements / information / distances .... then write me. It is also noteworthy that you have given constructive criticism and did not like others have hated. Thumbs up.

I'm sorry to have to tell you and all the other Tardisbuilders that this diary will not be continued until the end of this year or early next year.

At the moment I'm building a police public call box in 1/1 scale made of cardboard. Just wait.

Until then Rob. Have a nice day.

Hi mobius
Thanks for your comment. I am very pleased about it. It is also very nice that I could inspire you. One of my goals has been fulfilled. I'm not that familiar with classic Who, but I think I know which console room you mean. Of course, I'll stop by to see your progress. I wish you much success.

Hi Manuel,
I am pleased that you took my comments as they were meant to be, as constructive criticism.
I have always found everybody on the Tardis Builders forum to be very diplomatic and kind with their comments as well as very helpful in all areas whether it be research, construction, photography. It really is the place to go to with regards to a one stop shop for all your needs Doctor Who wise.

So with regards to your interior, I will send you a Personal Mail of a couple of sites and contact details that I found extremely useful and helpful for lighting, specifically the custom LED's and the EL Wire/Panels, which could be of use to you in this build.

With regards to the staircase, as previously stated, more than happy to assist you in anyway.
If you send me a PM with the construction details of the staircase location;
i.e the height from the console Finished Floor Level to the landing Finished Floor Level (commonly known in the construction industry as the rise) and the length the staircase has to travel from start point to finish point(again commonly known in the construction industry as the going), I will calculate the number of treads and risers to give you the most ergonomic looking staircase and then I can draw up the staircase for you so that you have a Plan view and Side elevation, I will then send this to you via PM and from this you can construct the staircase.

Sorry to hear that the build will not be continuing until a later date, but I am sure that everybody following your build will be patient and like me, will be waiting with baited breath to see this beauty finished!
I have already commented on your other current project, the 1:10 scale cardboard Tardis and will definitely be looking out for your 1:1 scale cardboard Tardis.

All the best,
                  Rob.

Hi Rob
I received your mail. I will send you the requested data as soon as possible. I have already skimmed the skillful websites and can confirm that you did not promise too little. Thank you for the tips next to the links. They are very helpful.

If I could ask you a personal question: what do you do by profession, or where did you get that know-how? Did you learn this at work or did you teach yourself by trying it out? As I did. Unfortunately, I do not know if you have already reported this in a previous post. I hope you communicate it to us / me soon.
Bye for now...
Manuel
