It's a great remake with slight changes and I like it a hell of a lot more then the adventures in space and time box

Is Peter Capaldi really that much taller than David Bradley? Whether those two TARDISes are father apart than they appear, or are on uneven ground putting them at different heights, the positioning of the actors in the doorways - sort of speaking - levels the playing fields. Just look at the actors' feet; they are both standing on the TARDISes' thresholds. Their heads are about at the same level with the window frame muntons of their respective TARDISes, and we know how much larger the New Series TARDIS is than the Classic Series TARDIS was.

Also, seeing the TARDIS David Bradley is using sort of makes me a bit homesick for the Classic years and those old "Old Girls".

Yes he is! His hair comes up to the top of the windows on the 'Bradley II'.  He's probably 5'4" after a haircut....

Hmm. According to IMDB, David Bradley is 5'10 3/4" - about 1.25" different from Peter Capaldi's 6'0" (though who knows how accurate that is?)

But there's a lot of perspective foreshortening when you compare the apparent height of the front and back of the Tardis props, and while Bradley is standing inside the box, Capaldi is pretty much outside. So the perspective foreshortening will make the difference.

Erm, should this thread perhaps be combined with: http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?topic=7825? ?

I like the fact that you can still see the interior of the Capaldi box, but the Bradley box has a dark interior. That ties in with the classic series. It is surprising I guess seeing as they could have put in the console room, but I like the fact that they didn't.

With the old box, we'd be looking into the "lobby" between the Police Box doors and the console room doors, wouldn't we?

Sometimes yes, and sometimes no, Peter. (See this Topic here: http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?topic=5211.0.)

The idea was given careful consideration by production,  apparently. It must be really difficult to keep continuity and at the same time bring something 54 or even 21 years into the future and make it look 'right' and consistent with new 'Who'.   Like you, I prefer the way they've done it. I think to have changed it would've raised more controversy!

Someone on GallifreyBase base said that the prop is slightly larger than the original...

I don't really like spoilers but, since the appearance of the Bradley Box II has been officially acknowledged by the BBC in the Xmas Special Trailer, I will just say that I think the person who built her has done an absolutely brilliant job.

Undoubtedly some people will point out that the front and rear top signs should have dark lettering on an (off)white background or that the base should jut out at the front or even that the front windows shouldn't be a mixture of pebbled and plain glass. Someone did jokingly ask me if that that particular change might annoy the "Window Police"?  (That person knows who he is. ;) )

We can't expect an absolutely slavish copy of the original Brachacki (Altered) Box and nor should we. I'm sure that all those involved have put a lot of thought and effort into her (re)creation and those efforts should be celebrated for what they are - a 'fan-boy nod to the past', a tribute to that past!

And that's the point; she is an evocation - and not a slavish copy - of the Brachacki Altered Tardis. And, if one or two dimensions have been altered, surely this will give us here on Tardis Builders hours of fun working out exactly what has been changed!  :)

I'm looking forward to seeing the Bradley II Tardis in all her (slightly altered) glory and if the 'powers that be' decide that the Tardis' Chameleon Circuit should suddenly start working again, I think this would be an excellent choice for the Tardis to adopt as her 'new' appearance! (After all, in the 50th Anniversary Special, Tom Baker did suggest that the Doctor might revisit one or two of his favourite past faces. If that suggestion was good enough for the Doctor, why shouldn't the Tardis do the same?!)

I was speaking offline with another member about this box and as I said to that person, we should be glad that this upcoming episode wasn't made in the 80's.

If it had been made in thee 80's then I'm pretty sure we would have just had the TYJ box being used for both Doctors, a little but like the roundel walls from the Mike Kelt console room being used for the 2nd Doctor.

I feel that we a lucky that we have producers who like to drop things in to appease us older viewers and the fact there are people working on the series who are die hard fans of the program.

You've probably all seen this, but at least it nails it into the thread.

And a cap from the end.  Very similar to early pics in the thread, but with the doors closed.
