I love the tiny little details that you've put on the console...

Which reminds me: I got so excited looking at this beauty last night that I forgot to mention those as well. Being a retired electronics tech, I recognize many of the components - or parts thereof - that you've used on those panels. It's a brilliant repurposing of some old bits I used to work with for a total of 31 years!

Oh yeah everyone, I'm back posting here again.

And on this note, I'd hoped you hadn't gone the way of the dodo! (I always miss a member that's absent for some time.) It's nice to see you back in action!

Oh yes well a lot of those parts go back to the days of when my father worked at Marconi. The bits were just sitting in draws collecting dust so it's an ideal way of repurposing electronic components (that I hoped no one would have noticed or recognized) haha.

Thanks for clarifying the technical stuff Dino! Yes, trouble is I can't imagine a barn being large enough to encapsulate a 2 story globe-like set haha.  If you get round to making a small scale version, I would advise assembling the whole thing together before "coralising" individual components, because otherwise the model will just be impossible to stick together.

Ha-ha, indeed! (I may not be as old as dirt, but I did tell them where to place it around the planet! ;D)

I'm not sure where you live geographically, but have you ever seen some of the barns we've got in the US? Just riding up US Route 13 (from Virginia Beach to Delaware) there are barns spread all over the place that could not only house Moonbase Alpha's original Main Mission, but also most of the Alpha sets as well! There are plenty that would be large enough to build your creation in!

That's some excellent advice! At the moment I don't have room for even a half-scale version of what you've got, but when I finally get some room to play with (if I don't regenerate from old age first), I'll certainly have a crack at the console part if nothing else!

Sorry for the late response Dino, I'm from London so space really does come at a premium and I can't say I've seen many barns in the city haha. If you do get to make a full scale set, get in touch with me because I'd love to see progress of the work!

I definitely would, jayjay! It's just a dream at the moment, unless I do get lucky and either hit the lottery, or get hit with a brainstorm and churn out some sort of story series akin to Harry Potter that makes me millions. The land those large barns sit on are usually several hundred acres, of not more, and even if you triple my total worth at the moment (including faking my own death to collect the insurance), I'll still fall well short of being able to afford such a purchase - to say nothing of the materials I'd then need to build this amazing concept of yours in full-scale.

But it was dreaming that put us on the Moon, so... "Where there's life, there's hope."
(And "We are such stuff
As dreams are made on,..."

This is incredible! Amazing work! The little switches and details are so fascinating!
